Logitech announces USB powered notebook speakers

Logitech announced today their V20 notebook speakers. They only require you to plug them into your USB port for power and audio signal:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/ne...=10911,crid=34

They're expected to be available in the US early next month (Sept) with a suggest retail price of $79.99 (nope, not $80! you can keep your penny and apply it to the taxes and/or shipping )

Are there any speakers with a 2.1 system that are USB powered? Or would the addition of a subwoofer be too much?
I think it would be pretty difficult to make a portable system with any kind of subwoofer without making the system very un-portable. Someone might come up with some kind of great idea, but it's alot easier to make normal speakers small and flat, it's alot harder to do that with a subwoofer. But who knows, someone might figure a great way to integrate a subwoofer without adding a bunch of mass/bulk.

Cool speakers though! I'm pretty happy with the speakers in my E1505 otherwise I'd be all over those. If I really want good sound I jus tput my headphones on anyway.

Well, thats the thing, a subwoofer's point is to move as much air as possible so theoretically, it should be possible to make a thin subwoofer, but the sound wouldn't be as "solid" as say a boxy one.

I think Logitech is aiming the desktop replacement market.
But 79.99 is pretty pricy to me.
