USB drivers for Inspiron 700m not working!

I tried downloading USB drivers from Dell website and I installed R96945.EXE under System Utilities and Configurations. However, it seems to have no effect and although USB hardware is being detected by Windows, the drivers have no effect whatsoever.
Am I installing the correct drivers? The Hardware Devices list in Control Panel -> System still shows Mass Storage Controller with a question mark.
I have Windows XP Home edition on my Inspiron 700m.

Please help me on this one!

Make sure you have installed the Intel chipset drivers and updated Win XP to at least Service Pack 1, both of which are necessary for the USB2.0 ports to function correctly.
