Battery life shouldn't be affected too much.

Though the faster hdd, were larger in size, the point I am getting at is
Space is not too much of an issue as I'll have an external drive with me. How much of a difference does the cache actually make (8MB vs 16MB)?

My main question still remains unanswered: Is there a significant difference between the 2 drives mentions if I use my notebook as a desktop replacement?

I just bought the Hitachi 7k60, and replaced my old 4200 RPM Hitachi 40 GB. Although I love the performance, the battery life has decreased by at least 50%. Any ideas? Otherwise, I am going to sell this drive and purchase a 5400 RPM one.
