LCD Frazzle-ness

Hi, i've had my 8790 for almost a year and a half, and i think a recent drop may have caused the video cable in the hinge going to the LCD to be damange. Most of the time I open the laptop the screen gets all "frazzled" for lack of a better word, and keeps going all balistic until i move the screen back and forth and find a spot where it will stay normal. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all though, like I just moved the lid up and down 3 times and it didn't do anything strange. Is there any way to replace the cable? I've heard that its an easy fix, but i'm not sure where I would be able to buy a replacement cable. I do have insurance for accidental damage, but i'm afraid they might claim that it was just "wear and tear." I've build my computers for years, though I've never really done much with laptops, but I think that I'd be able to replace the cable myself, given instructions. Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do, or where i might be able to find a replacement?

Thanks in advance,

Vicviper

Contacting Sager wouldbe the starting point for the cable. A word about insureance. If you bought it, why are you so cautious about using it when there is a need. This behavior, I just can't comprehend.

hehe, thanks for the reply G-Omaha, I did contact sager a few days ago, and i've gotten no reply as of yet, so i'm probably going to try again t/m. As far as the insurance, the only thing i'm worried about is that they will call it "wear and tear" which isn't covered under my policy, even though accidental damage is..... yeah.... I just want to get an idea of whats gonna happen before i make the claim, but i think i'll give safeware (the insurance company) a call on tuesday to see what they can do. Has anyone else had that problem with the screen before?

When i had mine RMAed...my vid cable/inverter thing was replaced....from what you described it sounds similar to what problem i had (i said similar, i dont know if problems are the same).

However, i did not drop mine. Mine just randomly happened.

It seems to work fine now after the RMA (knock on wood )

Hope they fix you up nice.
