14" laptop with the looks of a Sony, the portability, plus the x700.. awesome
Hopefully, it won't be a underclocked x700.

note that the 14" laptop is not widescreen

The media coverage of the BX series suggests it's targeted towards business & professional users, a first for Sony. Also explains the lack of widescreen. Seems targeted towards the IBM fanboys.

Sony and the X700 really grinds my gears. The X800 XT has been out for months now. If it's not an option in their new flagship 17 inch model, I'll be furious.

BX 14" looks like a great computer. But, I wonder how much it will weigh and how much it will cost.

More proprietary garbage...

The design is not that great, and a bit overpriced.

Yeah..FINALLY a lappie that seems to be a quite sturdly built, has a 14' SXGA+-screen, decent wight and has a resonable battery-time, seperate GPU(even tho I would manage on a X300 as a minumum) and one thing, that I seriously would gladly pay xtra buck for...a trackpoint of some kind(hopefully I can put the IBM-Eraserhead-like trackpoint fitting on it)
..that is UNDER about the 3000$ and up, that the IBM T42/T43 are sold here in sweden..

And having a nicer screen, a more powerful GPU(hope Sony solved some of the heat-issues reported on many of VAIO-laptops I read&seen)

Even tho, think I will miss the keyboard and some of the software the IBM-lappies has, like Active protection(hopefully sony has it, dont know about that at this time) and the restore-partition built in the thinkpads...but that I would be willing to compromise when coming to the price....=D

Can understand that some might see some of the models as a tad..."blank-looking"..but then...they are ment to be business lappies and I'm glad that they have that "no-thrills"-look to them, I really like IBM because of that, after all, it's what they are built of that counts...and think the X700-GPU is a maybe higher end of component that might be expected in a Business Laptop...I think that the VAIO-logo should not be on the cover and that a darker color option should be available..

But a cleancut design is a choiche to make when designing Business Laptop's in general these days and I like that..if someone wants flash, then there are a fue models available to fit one's needs...

And business lappies are generally higher priced than "other" lappies, but then they are marceted towards different segments of the market...

1. overpriced repair costs and accessories

2. bunch of annoywares that Sony will bundle into this system (spysubtract, AOL free trial, Norton trial... you know what I'm talking about)

3. crappy support

Case closed.
