Audio DJ and MP3's

I'm taking a long plane trip back home on saturday, and was thinking that it would be nice to have some music to accompany me. "Hmmmmmm..... there's that audio dj thingie on my laptop" I think to myself. So i know you can play normal CD's with it. I don't guess there would be any way to play either a directory on my hard drive containing mp3's, a cd of mp3's, a dvd of mp3's, or maybe a dvd audio disc? Has anyone ever tried anything of that sort? Also, does anyone know what kind of battery life I could be getting if I have the screen turned off during the flight, and am playing mp3's?

the audio dj only works when the computer is off. it just acts as a normal cd player. i'm not sure if it can play mp3s on a cd.
