Sager 9880 - Who makes the actual motherboard?

Thread Starter
I just downloaded "motherboard monitor" ver 5.3.7.0.
http://mbm.livewiredev.com/

During the setup, it asks which motherboard is used on the system so it can configure the software. Anyone have that info (other than Clevo who makes the "laptop".)

Thanks!

Clevo makes the motherboard, or maybe it's a "sister company" in China. Normally "motherboard Monitor" does not directly any of the Clevos motherboards as they don't have all for the necessary speficiations.

I don't know who makes them but, I wonder if they've had a rash of bad mobo's in the 9880/9860.

Just got my rma'd 9880 back from Sager yesterday, where they had to replace a failed mobo.

Several others on these boards have had the exact same problem. I wonder what the weak link is on the mobo's?

For me, I couldn't even get into my bios, and all I would get the lappy to display was, "no operating system found". Sager said that the work order showed that the mobo was replaced.

Hope this one works more than 5 weeks.

I had to RMA my 9860 also. I just got it back yesterday and the work order on it just says "Fixed". How did you find out what they did to yours? I'm 99.99999999% they had to replace the mobo (when plugged in the wireless light came on, all the fans went full blast, and it beeped a very sick sounding beep).

I just think there was a bad bath of mobos or something. Cause you look around and so many people have positive things to say. I think I just got beat the unlucky stick. I hope everything works out with yours.

Are they giving you a new one or fixing yours?

Also wanted to say to anyone else if you set on a Sager I had no problems with PCTORQUE. They have been fast and helpful. Just waiting for my refund and I will post when I get it too.

They already fixed it and, I've had it a few days now with no problems. One thing I did notice that's different is that it appears as though the 9880 throttles the cpu back when on battery power. It did not do that before the replacement mobo was put in...I think.

My mobmeter program and, the system info utility both showed the cpu running at 2.4ghz, when I have a 3.0ghz system. Plugged in the cord, boom...full power.
