Speakers!

I just got my laptop yesterday and the builtin speakers are not very loud at all. I do have some external speakers hooked to it and they sound fine once I turn them up. Just wondering if the speakers are just not that loud or if there is a problem? I have installed the latest drivers and truned the sound up on the control pannel but these speakers are not as loud as i expected them to be. I guess if i really want good sound out of this thing the best thing to do is get a external soundcard for it. And some realy nice speakers.

I don't know Braingoo, my speakers are pretty loud, most of the time I have to turn them down a bit. Interestingly, the speakers seem louder if your playing a dvd using the PowerDVD software instead of the Windows Media Player. I also believe there are some setting in PowerDVD where you can set your speakers for max loudness or performance. I played with the settings and it seemed to make the speakers a little louder. It's somewhere in the settings for Powerdvd. I don't have my laptop with me right now so I don't know the exact settings but I will check it out tonight.

I have PowerDVD on my desktop...it rocks. There is no other DVD program necessary MMkk...thx...GG. Heh, sorry, I just got done playing CS...damn kids drive me crazy!

Seriously, it does have excellent sound control built in when compared to the Winblowz interface.

The speakers so far are a pretty big disappointment to me, especially since I heard they were pretty good. My friends Dell Latitude 800 (think that's the name) is perfect for watching DVDs without external speakers but these are just not loud enough. I have all the settings on max and its still too quiet.

I got mine much louder!

I think i figured this thing out there are like 3 diffrent volume settings on this thing including the master volume wich is set using the fn key and 2 of the top row numbers this was only set halfwway on mine. I set it all the way up and wow the speakers are much louder. this volume runs completely indepentently of the one on the side and the one in the system tray. I can hear this thing a few rooms over now my noisey desktop machine used to drown it out.

Braingoo, you are right on about the three different speakers settings on this thing. I too was at first disappointed at the sound of the speakers, but once I found the settings and turned those all the way up, the sound rocks. I have to keep mine turned down about half way otherwise it's too loud. DVD's and games sound awsome. The sound can easily fill a large room with no problems. This is one of the best sounding laptops I've ever heard and this is comparing it to some great sounding Toshiba multi-media laptops. Just turn up the volume on all the speaker settings (external function keys, Powerdvd, Windows multimedia player) and prepare to get some great sound. Remember, these settings operate seperately from the volume wheel on the side of the laptop. Once you got this setup correctly, No Dell box can even come close in sound quality.

Thanks bro....it did help a bit....but when it's too loud it sounds like the speakers are going to blow. I just have to get used to these "laptop speakers".

yhea they sorta sound like speakers mounted in a Tin Can.
This maybe because that is essentialy what they are except it is
a verry expensive but nicely painted tin can it is still speakers mounted in
a metal box.
