Asus fan comes on at 60*

My computer always runs in the 60s and even the 70s under load. Since the fan kicks in at 60, the fan is always on. Is this common with your Asus? Isit possible to change the temp that the fan kicks in at, and is it suggested?

Be lucky, my fan comes on at 70-75.

I keep my comp at 600 mhz, and only when I game do I let it go to 1700.

Clean out the fans with a can of compressed air, making sure to keep the fan still. Dust accumulates in there - I once had to send in my Dell to change the CPU and heatsink cuz so much dust and debris was in there.

Newest BIOS fixes this.

btw, are you using CHC?

Which version bios? I have a fairly new version from Asus.com, I believe - Yes, I am using CHC.

The temp does stay below 60 if I am running at 6x, resulting in the fans not coming on. I just figured it was somewhat abnormal for fans to always be running.

My z70v runs at 58degrees at 15x

do you have fan control enabled in CHC?

SpeedFan should work for you. Credit for White Heat for this. There's a whole thread about it here: http://www.z71forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=33

W3V doesn't have the PWM option.

You may have to run Everest Home Edition first to access all the sensors and controls on your computer with SpeedFan.

OK....is there a way to get my GPU temp through either CHC or SpeedFan? I adjusted my fans, and its my GPU fan that is always on....not the CPU fan. There has to be something wrong....my GPU shouldnt be that hot if all im doing is looking through NotebookForums....Help please...

**EDIT**
I found the GPU temp is labeled Remote 2 Temp....but mine is reading EITHER 128degrees or -128degrees, both of which i find extremely hard to believe...there is a dash next to it, but i cant tell if that is a negative or just some random dash...

I ran CS:S, and after ALT+TABing out of it, my GPU was reading 56degrees for a few seconds, then dropped to -128degrees again....what is wrong? Its reading 128, but if i bind the GPU fan to run with Remote 2 temp, its on full speed.....If i bind it to run with CPU temp, its on extremely low, and sounds like it did before it started the problem stated a few posts above...

**EDIT**
Also, on a Z71V, does anyone know what temps the 2 fans SHOULD kick in at?

Your CPU fan should kick in at 55 degrees. The GPU/chipset fan should be on most all the time. Mine hardly ever shuts off.

How do you use it to access all the sensors? do you use install it?

Is CHC better than rightmark cpu clock? By better I mean interface, reliability, etc.
if my GPU fan should be on most all the time, it shouldnt be on 100% the whole time like mine is....Also, like i said, SpeedFan is reading my GPU temp at -128degrees, and even though thats wrong obviously, why would the fan be on if its that cold???

**EDIT**
Also, ive never used Rightmark, but CHC has been a wonder for me so far...

Also, every one in a while, ill get a reading from SpeedFan saying that Fan 3 is on, when i have no fan 3....
