New Powernote 259IA (Uniwill) & Swapping WSXGA+ display from Inspiron

Hey guys.

Well, I have found a pretty good deal on a 259IA from Digitalstar (Australian reseller) that is pretty hard to pass up (15.4 WXGA, 2GHz, 2GB RAM, 256 MR9700, 60@7200) seeing as after on-selling my Inspiron 8600 & Port replicator to a friend (15.4 WSXGA+, 1.7GHz, 1GB RAM, 128 MR9600PT, 60@7200) it will cost me next to nothing.

However, my major concern is about the LCD display, I love my WSXGA+ and this model only comes with the WXGA. Fine, I can put up with that if I have to, but I am wondering if any of you peeps out there know if they might be easily swappable? I mean, I know that obviously the bezel and all that are incompatible, but if it is stripped down to the LCD and mounted in the other bezel will it fit? I am fairly knowledgeable about Dell notebooks as many would know but have had very limited experience with barebones systems such as this.

Only other concern is the supposedly lower clocked varient of the MR9700 this uses, but as long as this at least matches up to my existing 9600 Pro Turbo card then I don't care... I am mainly after this new laptop and ditching the corporation because of pure size, aesthetics and speed (with faster CPU, more RAM).

Cheers,
Stu

Update: My finances now in order, sales rep getting back to me for custom config/ price so order will probably go through tomorrow.

Any comments on either question? IE: Replacing screen and underclocked MR9700 vs existing MR9600PT.

MR9700 is noticibly faster vs a 9600, although 256mb is too much for the card to handle effectively (no worries, you will still get a few fps more in games over a 128mb 9700)

no comment on the screen.

Oh yes, of course. However I have been lead to believe the MR9700 in this particular model (the 259IA barebones in general) is clocked lower than normal... thus confusion over how low it is clocked and will perform against the MR9600PT (which is much faster than a regular MR9600 in itself). Figures are a bit hard to come by

Bump the topic. Have also just ordered a NuShield for the display, whichever one it ends up with

Nice setup, and seems like a good price for that too, it's fully loaded! Sorry I don't have any idea if the WSXGA+ LCD will fit... I think they would be fairly similar, but connections may differ for example...
