what about the alienware light eyes. Are they freaking bright in a dark place that you can see them thru the LCD screen or something or what?

When the computer is off and you look at the screen you can see the blue go through it. They are really bright when you are charging it. It is like a super bright night light. I just cover them with a cloth or sock. Alienware says they are working on a program that lets you turn them on or off.

They don't know yet. They said it will be a program on the desktop or will be in the bios.

during normal use, like word processing, this laptop doesn't get hot. The fan runs all the time so it keeps it from building up heat. I remember my old dell I8100 would turn into a laproaster after being on for awhile and just being idle. While gaming is another story. I have the NV card and my GPU has gotten up to 100C. Of course I am using hand modded newer drivers than the POS ones AW is using for the NV card.

you get used to the fan a bit, sort of like a desktop noise, eventually you tune it out. As a previous laptop owner it was loud at first.

I have one dead pixel, don't know what I am going to do about it yet.

If anyone has done any Bios work it may be good to try to get AW give us the resourses to make a Eye control tool. They have been saying they will get the new NV driver out for awhile and still the 44.83 driver is on the site when 52.16 is WHQL.

From what I have been reading, there is a possibility that the ATi card has a bit more washedout look to it before you do some hand tweaking to it. The ATi card is good more most games except anything OpenGl or Quake III based. if you mostly play the Jedi Knight games, Wolf, of half life the NV card is the better route for the time being. New mobile cards are on thier way as we speak so just get one and plan to upgrade.

I have a Area 51 m with a Radeon 7500 and a 2.4 ghz processor. I am in Brazil and it is running hot. After ten minuts of UR Tournament 2004 it jumps up to 80c and the game craps out. I plan to use Arctic Silver when I get back to the states. My processor hasn't been tweaked for over clocking. Is there anything I can do to keep the processor from heating up?

Also, I have the laptop elevated so the fans gets plenty of air.
