Which wireless router?

Thread Starter
I want to buy a wireless router.
Although I'm sure I could find a better one on the net, I prefer buying local.
Here are the choices I have, in no particular order:

D-Link Air Plus Xtreme G
Netgear WGR614
Netgear WGT624
Linksys WRT54G
Linksys WRT54GC
Linksys WRT54GS I've heard good stuff about third party support for this router

These models are all available locally, and are all in my price range.
I'm going to be getting an Asus Z71v with an Intel PRO/Wireless 2915 A/B/G card.
I would like to have wireless access on this laptop.
The key components I'm looking for:

1) Decent Range
2) High signal strength
3) Stable connection/router (don't want overheating issues)
4) Good firewall
5) Some good wireless security options

These all have a 4 port switch embedded which I will partially use to connect my two home PCs. I want this part of the router to work also, but I'm guessing it's not that difficult to make wired ethernet work good now.

So, which of those six models would you recommend?

Thanks,

mrfocus

DLink DI-784

Flawless 802.11a operation even at 108mbps turbo mode. (need DLink 108mbps capable card to use turbo mode such as DWL-AG660 or various OEMs who use the same Atheros chip.) Range is decent(full house coverage but signal degrades when you step outside and decide that you want to surf the net while sitting in the patio/backyard or on the curb by the street.) By the way, enabling the proprietary 108mbps "turbo mode" will make it even harder for wardrivers to scan your packets to crack your WEP/WPA codes. All they will ever get are incomplete bits and pieces of your packets, that is, if they even have 802.11a. Most likely, they'll be using 802.11b/g so your 802.11a packets will be all but "invisible" to them.

Excellent range when using 802.11b/g but you have to deal with typical interference issues that many 802.11b/g users experience if you live in a high (2.4Ghz band) density environment such as when you have many neighbors who have their own 802.11b/g wifi, microwave ovens, 2.4ghz phones, Sony PSPs, Nintendo DS, Playstation wireless controllers, etc.
