I returned my R4000 and jumped on the latest deal from OD. OK so this is what I got.

ZV6000
AMD Athlon 3500+
win XP Pro/SP2
1.0GB DDR SDRAM
80 GB 5400 RPM HD
15.4" WXGA Brightview Widescreen (1280 X 800)
12 Cell Li-Ion battery
128 MB ATI Radeon(R) XPRESS 200M
54G Speedbooster
DVD +/- Double layer
Card reader, etc.
HP deskjet 3847 Printer

I think I did pretty good after the mail in rebates and am anxiously waiting for the laptop to arrive.

Thats a nice deal... Between the 12-cell, DL DVD-RW, 1GB, printer... Not bad... I think the lowest I've seen the zv6000 was for like $699 and it was an 8cell, 512MB, 40GB, no printer...

Thats an awesome deal. Just a few weeks ago I paid 100.00 more for less then what you have....I got a ZV6000 Pavilion with a 3500, 512mb ram, non brightview, wifi, bluetooth, cdrw/dvdrom,60gb 4200 rpm hd, xpress 200m, xp home(would have went pro but wanted to stay under 1000.00) and the 12 cell battery...came in for a total of 994.00 with a 50.00 rebate

Where did you get this deal?

OfficeDepot... he said OD...

Yeah, that is a good deal. One of my friends just purchased a model very similar to that directly from HP and it sucked $1500 from his wallet.

Wow! That's a great price for the HP!

... but why did you replace the Compaq with virtually the same computer but in a different package?

Thats a good question

That is a good question. I replaced the R4000 because of the following reasons.
WinXP Pro v. Win XP Home
80 GB 5400 v. 100 GB 4200
1 GB RAM v. 512 MB RAM
12 Cell v. 8 Cell
HP Printer v. No Printer
$846 v. $1049

I saw the Build to configuration at OD and jumped on the last week's special. They had a 50% off on select accesories. All in all I thought the HP was a better deal price wise and value wise.

I see... Well you were right... the 100GB was slow... and you had like half the stuff...

Heh, I get it now. A great deal, all things concerned! I just hope that I still lived on that continent as well...

Can't you call OD directly and get it configured and shipped? Just a thought.

Many US/Canadian companies do not ship across the Atlantic. Plus, there would be the taxes and customs to pay, which would (I guess) make it as expensive as the same model here: c. €1150, which is about $1440...

... wait a moment... Perhaps I _should_ check this out... I doubt even our excessively high taxes could bring the price _that_ high...
