Hi all,

I am considering a 2200 but have one question before purchase which I hope someone can answer for me

basically i wanted to know up to what resolution the 2200 can run on an external monitor, I'm hoping its at least 1280X1024 to match my external lcd screen. I have looked high and low on the Dell website but cant find any info on it.

Can anyone also confirm that you can run the 2200 with the screen shut and run only on an external screen.

thanks in advance

Pete.

I'm not sure of specifics, but I am sure that it will go higher than XGA (or even SXGA).

No, I don't currently own a Dell laptop, but since when do you need to own a laptop, or any computer for that matter, to know that the Pentium M is better than the Celeron? I might not own one right now, but I've used plenty of them, and for extended times, too. I will also own one in a few months.

The 2200 might be good, might not. What kind of Integrated Graphics is it? And how much Video RAM? The evo in my sig has a 32mb Mobility Radeon and it runs BF1942 really good.

Telling someone to upgrade the processor on a 2200 and they should be fine? Have ye gone daft man? The 2200 is a piece of crap!! Just like the other poster who ordered one said, these things are soo poorly built I dont know why one would even consider buying them, especially with the 700m , 6000 out there for nearly the same price with much better build quality.
Hell man why not just tell him to buy an Atari??
The user clearly said that all they would be using it for is office work, internet, and a little bit of photo editing. They are not going to be using it for a bunch of rigorous tasks. A user like that wouldn't care about build quality, as they would know that they got a good deal and their system does what it wants them to do. I've used 2200s multiple times, and while the build quality is not as good as the higher-end machines, it would be fine for a casual user.

Can you explain to me where in Australia you can get a 6000 for the same price as a 2200? I compared the prices, and the 2200 starts at $1,097 AUD, and the 6000 starts at $2,297 AUD. That's $1,200 AUD apart. I compared the 2200 with the 700m as well. The 700m starts at $2,097 AUD. That's $1,000 AUD more than the 2200. Unless there's $1,000 AUD coupons lying around somewhere, I don't think you can get them for the same price. Obviously, you're just shooting off your mouth without doing any research. That post you made before this latest one just proves that even more. I'm not sure about this, but it seemed that you just posted an attempt to insult me without even noticing that I replied to the first attempt to insult me. Here, just to make it simple, I'll quote the post I'm talking about:

Now, if you would like to post again, please, I beg of you, think about what you're posting before you hit the Post Quick Reply or the Submit Reply button.

I don't see what you're complaining about anyway. The original poster convinced the prospective buyer to spend the extra money for a 6000. The only reason I didn't suggest a 6000 in the first place is because the prospective buyer is on a low budget, and I knew that the 6000 and the 2200 had a big difference in price, a difference so big that the prospective buyer probably would not have decided to struggle to spend the extra money based on an opinion of a forum member she did not know. I was being realistic when I posted that message, and I would stick by that message, if the poster was still wonder about the 2200.

Now, to make things simpler, I will stoop to your level of maturity and intelligence.

Dude, if you don't know what the hell you're talking about, just shut the hell up.

I'm sure you will take some time to reply as soon as you get that foot out of your mouth.
