New Keyboard for 5600D not working properly

I bought a new keyboard for my 5600D but the key mapping is way off. Its a newer revision, but I think the problem may be with the connector. It doesn't seem to slide in quite as far as the old connector. To be more exact, one side doesnt slide all the way in. I've tried to keyboard on two identical laptops with the same result on both.
The new keyboard I bought.
New keyboard model: MP-01503US-4302 Rev: 0
Old keyboard model: MP-01503US-430 Rev: A
The new keyboard has CTRL in the lower left corner.

Could this be a connector issue or do I need a new firmware or bios?

Thanks for any help

Most likely just a firmware issue on the "old" laptop. Did you match up the cables the new one may be wider and a little snip with a pair of scissors may do the trick. as to the keys being different it may just need to have the keys swapped. Do a search for ctrl key swap. It's been a while since it's been posted.

At bootup I see that my bios is 1.02.07 and the KBC/EC Firware Revision is 1.0017. Do i just need to email sager to get the new bios and firmware?

As for the cable, the new one seems to be a little too long. I thought about snipping the end off but I was afraid I would ruin it.

Thanks for the reply

Call/email Sager and they should be able to help you out. http://www.notebookforums.com/showth...board+key+swap & http://www.notebookforums.com/showth...board+key+swap are links to the other threads. Good luck.

I emailed Sager 2 days ago. Still waiting for a reply. My problem is not the Fn and Ctrl keys being swapped. All of the keys are wrong. For example, when I press the space bar, I get a comma. Also, I dont have a 5680. Its either a 5660 or 5670, but I dont know how to tell which it is.

Thanks again

Yeah if the keys are that messed up I wouldn't bother with it. Might try these guys. http://www.laptopking.com/searhbrand...sp?brand=sager they have a pull for $49

The $49 pull is out of stock. I bought the $99 new kb from a laptopking.com sister site. (There are 3 sites that sell parts that have the same inventory and same mailing address.) Sager still hasn't responded. I guess I'll email them again.

thanks again

Bummer I was afraid of that. What was the cause for the replacement? Can it not be fixed?

Several keys are missing and cannot be replaced.
