z70va X700 drivers not installing

The included drivers for my new z70va work install just fine, but when I go to install ATI's newer drivers (or even Omega's modded ones) I get an error message saying that I need to install VGA drivers first or some crap like that, and according to the test app my compy isn't compatible with the newest Catalyst drivers. I've seen that other z70va owners have the newer drivers installed, so what gives? Why can't I get them?

check www.omegadrivers.net for modified ATI catalyst drivers for notebooks.

If you go to the ATI website, you need to download the notebook version, not the desktop version. On that same screen when it ask you what you want to download, at the bottom of the list, there is the notebook version.

I'd already tried both of those. Catalyst doesn't like me, modded, notebook, or otherwise. Observe:

so nobody has any ideas? This sorta sucks.

This is the first time I see that error. I haven't had a single problem with omegadrivers since I started using them about 2 years ago. Did you try removing your adapter, rebooting and then installing ?
I have encountered the same problem and have yet to find a fix. It will install the driver that it came with but nothing else works.

Did you try running Driver Cleaner to remove all traces of the ATI drivers? If not, check here, as the issue may be with certain files not being deleted, or who knows what?

Also, make sure you're downloading the correct drivers. The UPDATE program doesn't even seem to detect that most people have an X700 card, so be sure you download the mobile catalyst drivers themselves. USe THIS link:

http://www.ati.com/online/mobilecatalyst/

If you try downloading them through ATI's site, it really makes you work to get the drivers...

Did you try intalling asus drivers from the cd? Those do work fine!
The ones from the cd work fine but when it comes to ati drivers the newsest ones usually fix many things and improve performance.

The drivers from that link worked thanks!
The ones from the link work perfectly with Z70va - just installed them! Open the link and it asks you to save the file - save it, run & enjoy

Has anyone installed ati tray tools successfully? After install my computer always hangs. If anyone has a solution please share

I also tried to install ati tray tools and it would lock the system up I believe ati tray tools may be conflicting with catalyst control center. Or possibly CHC.

What are people getting best gaming results with?
I haven't tried Omega's 5.8 drivers (released today). One of the changes is "X700 Mobility support". Anyone care to test them? I would prefer to change Ati's stock 5.8 drivers with Omegas (I can't stand CCC!)

Same here. I installed the omega drivers and had to disable them on the startup list in msconfig while in safe mode. The comp would beep once and lock up when I started windows otherwise. Once I got the drivers installed though:
