The 5.8 drivers from that link worked fine for me. But I just tried to upgrade to 5.9, and I got the exact error (the vga error thing) you guys are talking about. I also got the same error when I tried the omega drivers. Guess I'll stick to ATI's 5.8 drivers, unless someone can figure out this mystery.

mine would lock up with the tray tools too. I think they were made for the desktop drivers.

where is this tray tools? do i have to disable it?

Thanks for thelink to those drivers but.....

I had already installed the ATI drivers from the cd with no CHC installed as of yet.

I clicked the link and saved the file. Installed the drivers and rebooted my comp. No lockup or freeze, but when it boots into windows I get an error messgae that says there was an error with CLI.exe

( "cli.exe is installed alongside ATI's range of graphics cards with the Catalyst hardware driver range. Installs a easy-to-access taskbar icon for access to diagnostics features. This is a non-essential process. Disabling or enabling this is down to user preference").

It also says that it failed to initialize and to click "ok" to terminate. I click "ok" and everything SEEMS fine. Would anyone with more knowledge care to elaborate on this? Anyone ever figure out if there are compatability issues with CHC?

Installing microsoft .NET framework 1.1 eliminated the message and now the tray icon and utility work. Thanks to those who posted this necessity!

Now to install CHC...hopefully no probs...
