size vs gaming performance

If you were either buying a D810 or a 9300,would you choose 9300 or D810?
I know the 9300 has better graphics card, but D810 has better size and okay graphics compared to a 9700 mobility.
Which would you choose, better size or better gaming performance?

i'd get the 9300. I was in the same position as you wen i got my i9300, it just seemed wayyy too big for me and i was worried that i'd never get used to it. But then i just took the risk and got the 9300, when i first got it, i thought this thing was HUGE but it was very light for such a big laptop, and basically, now all smaller laptops look..well...so tiny

Well, you are also considering the M70, which is a D810 with a decent gpu for gaming - almost up to the 6800-configured i9300. But you can't win both ways. Get the smaller D810/M70 and you have a smaller screen to lug around; get the i9300 and you have the bigger screen to lug around. At the same time, a 17" screen for gaming would be great, wouldn't it? When the computer is stationary, the bigger screen the better. Maybe there are other factors involved. Maybe gaming is more important to you than you say, in which case the much bigger screen and the superior gpu of the i9300 would have to win? The D810 is similar form factor to the M70 but a vastly inferior gpu, only slightly better than the X300-configured i9300. If you are happy with 9600-performance, then the 2004 generation gpu the X600 on the D810 or a X300-configured i9300 will both be fine. If you want a 2005 generation gpu, then the only options are the 6800-configured i9300 or the M70. Between the M70 and the 6800-configured i9300, you just have to decide whether you want a really big screen, and whether you are prepared to cope with the downside to that.

seeing as how the 9300 is half an inch deeper and an inch wider its not that much bigger, see pics in the pics section. for that you get a powerful graphics card, a dvi output, two extra usb ports and a larger screen plus the price on these systems is about the same, maybe less for the 9300 with a dell coupon. For the price of an M70 you could buy TWO 9300's. The latitude/precision lines are business lines, inspirons are for multimedia and home use.

Does anybody else find it funny that the guy that always says buy HP over Dell owns a Dell, and one of the best Dells, at that? Dude, do you work for HP? It's like they trained you to say the same thing over and over. I mean, people accuse me of working for Dell, but at least my posts are all different.

Yes,I suppose you could think that, but then again maybe I'm being sarcastic to this idiot who keeps posting exactly the same question over and over, slightly rearranged every single day,I mean 160 + post in a little over 3 weeks, and the nice helpful people on this forum just a keep on answering the same inane questions again and again, when Mr Isuzu has been given huge amounts of good sound, simple explanations about the pros/cons of each machine.
I'm amazed that no one else has said anything, and my posts were just a petty way of seeing if the message sunk in[which it didn't] about posting the same question over and over, never mind only have to bear it until november then I will have a m70,d810,xps2,9300,6000 and F knows what other brand.
No I don't work for HP,and I am extremely unlikely to buy HP again due to the fact that the don't honour their care pack next business day exchange warranties that they like to sell you when you buy.
As this is my 4th Dell notebook in 2 years I guess I could probably say it is my preferred brand.

Obviously not bad enough to stop you doing it.

Just buy a laptop already! Sounds like the I9300 will suit you the best.

Ill order soon

Yeah, just pick one. Personally, I would get the D810, as size is important to me, and 15.4" is the largest I would go.

MitchellO, how do game run on your laptop? I am asking this because you basically have an x600 but u hav agp and your 9600PT compares to the x600 in the d810.

He has already eliminated the D810, leaving the M70 and the 6800-equiped i9300 - with comparable gpus's. If gaming is very important, I would go for the i9300 for its much bigger screen and slightly faster gpu. [Like you I went for M70 because portability was more important than gaming ability alone. Would I like a 17" screen? Of course - when sitting down...]
