TV out Not working

Thread Starter
Hi,

I am using the TV out jack of my 9300 with the S-Video to Composite(RCA) type connector/converter which came along with an Radeon 9800 Pro...

All I see is a light gray screen on the TV, I did the following but, still no dice...

-I went into the Nvidia control panel and made sure that the TV was my secondary output
-Changed resolutions to 640x480 for the TV...
-Played around with the TV settings but no go...

What needs to be done to get this functional?

BTW, Does anyone want to buy an Radeon 9800 256MB version?

Isn't the way this works that you actually make the TV-out a duplicate of the LCD? Usually I see a fn-key combination that toggles the video signal from internal to external. Maybe take a look at the fn symbols on your keyboard? Try hitting that once or twice and see if the image appears on the TV. Hope this helps.

I can get my tv out to display my desktop and any other program that i have running, except the copy of PowerDVD i have. The window where the movie plays just stays black, but that's an issue w/PowerDVD.

Anyways , i am using 77.77 drivers, with the TV set as my second display. The 77.77's have a setup wizard for the TV, and i just went through that. I also set mine as a clone of my laptop. I think you can set it as an extension and replacement or something like that.

well you need to run the display wizard.

its not as easy as ati

There might be something wrong with that s-video to composite video converter. With the TV out functionality, you can either mirror your i9300's LCD or extend it onto your TV. Make sure the resolution is set correctly on your TV out. Some TV's can handle higher resolutions through the RCA video input. My TV can handle 1028X768 while others need to go down to 640X480. Try increasing the resolution. If nothing works then you can run to Radio Shack and pick up another converter for less than $5.00.

I have this exact same problem. I don't know how to get it to work with the Nvidia 6800... Is there something I need to setup? I don't see any nvidia display wizard that lets you setup a tv or anything. I just plug it in and I get grey... I put the resolution lower but it didn't do anything. I'm using an 8 pin svideo to composite converter. Not sure wats wrong but if someone could help, it would be greatly appreciated!

you have to plug it in first then run the wizard

desktop management

if its not plugged in you wont get the options

Okay, I know why now. Have to use the 4-pin svideo to composite adapter not the 8-pin.

I'm a bit puzzled, why are you guys not using the tv out adapter supplied by Dell?

Ive had the EXACT same issue, when I use my TV out Svideo to Svideo it works perfectly, but if I throw in the svideo to composite adaptor to plug it into a composite TV, I get nothing but flat grey or scrolling bars. The solution you say is a 4pin svideo to composite adaptor? Where can I get one of these?

i use the dell adaptor and an svideo to video composite cable, when i extend my screen to it, i can only get a minimum resolution of 800 by 600, how do you get it down to 640 by 480 ?

You can buy them at very low prices on Ebay.

It's a while since I did this, but if you go into the advanced section, you should be able to choose a list of modes, where 640x480 is available.
