Money talking...it's saying "BYE!!"

My laptop just went in for service (bad mobo). I'm trying to decide whether to upgrade the screen while it's there. I currently have a WSXGA screen and would like to go to the glossy WUXGA screen. What are people's feelings on the WUXGA screen? I'm a developer and need LOTS of realestate on the screen so it will definately be welcome, but what about gaming? Does it have any ghosting? I'm not allowing myself to buy another machine until next september...I may have to make a deal with myself to keep the laptop until Jan '07 to make up for spending the extra cash. Do you guys think this will still be a viable gaming laptop then? My specs are in my sig.

The only draw back I have seen with the glossy screens is the refelction, altough at the airport I did catch some guy reading my email over my shoulder... I like the glossy myself, but some went back to the non-glossy.

My current screen is glossy so that won't actually be a big change for me.

I'm a developer and had units the WSXGA and WUXGA (both glossy) sitting side by side for a couple of weeks. I much prefer the WSXGA, though there was a lot more real estate on the WUXGA. The WUXGA appeared blotchy to me and everything was a bit too small at arm's length (I never could adjust fonts, et al, to make everything a comfortable size). The WSXGA appeared much clearer and crisper to me.

If real estate is much more important to you, then you may well value the WUXGA higher. For me, it was a strain on my eyesight and annoying in the blotchiness.

Thanks ObjectUser, that's exactly the info I was looking for. I guess I'll stiick with the WSXGA screen since I use the laptop a bit further from me (ext keyboard so I can use the MS Natural one). Too bad since the WUXGA screen sounds so sweet. I also found out it's 750-800 to upgrade it...OUCH!
