bananaboy, i'm a canadian customer as well. i purchased in jan of this year, and if i'm not mistaken, rebates do not apply to buyers who aren't from continental US. i talked extensively with the reps before i bought mine, and i was assured that they didn't apply to me.

confused

It would be helpful to have guidelines on what you can and can't post regarding a specific company or product. It's hard to tell from this and other posts on alienware (but the same applies to other brands) whether particular problems are isolated or company policy. In another thread i saw that alienware got ebay to pull an ad for using the phrase "better than alienware".
I had a post severely edited here for criticizing the rebate policy as described by another poster. Certainly every brand has problems, but you would have to be blind to reality not to see that some suffer from, say, excessive heat problems. Yet some here seem to think that to mention such a thing is trolling or flaming.
Better to allow freewheeling criticism, to which the companies feel a need to respond, than to be nervous about every word. Bottom line is you need all the anectodal info you can get to make a wise buying decision.
I'm not sucking up, but I'd way sooner spend my precious computer dollars at pctorque or other trusted, owner-operated small business, where i can get the owner on the phone, than at any of the giant faceless monster companies.

Alienware is very protective of their trademark, they'd be stupid not to protect it from that kind of advertising.

As for this forum, it's run by Adam at PCTorque, not Alienware. This forum protects itself from legal liabilities, but I've rarely seen a non-profane, or non-abusive post get edited here.

majorx is trolling the Alienware forums and is 'blind to reality' that this Alienware forum is used by Alienware owners that come here to announce issues that they have with their systems. That information is more valuable to Alienware than some person off the street expressing their own opinion of how things should be. This forum is used by people from around the World so to center on one issue, problems caused by heat for example, would be a misrepresentation of all Alienware systems. Even though there are issues that can be put into catagories, each unit would still need to be looked at as unique, based on their own circumstances and events leading up to the problem. All of this info comes together to help others that are searching for information about their own Alienware system and also helps many people decide if they want to own Alienware for themselves. This forum is not for people that come here with a predetermined negative attitude about a certain brand and wish to spread their negative views to the World. And its not here for people to troll the forum looking for someone elses issues so that they can place a magnifying glass on them for whatever odd reason. I have a lot more faith in the intelligence of people that visit this forum than to allow those things to happen. People know that the issues that are posted in this forum can happen with computer systems no matter what brand they are. And people can see that Alienware Tech support will help you get through your issues.
