stuck/dead pixel cure on lcd screens

heh, for the last 2-3 weeks one of my monitors has been bugging me with a stuck/dead pixel just about centre of the screen, i have tried numerous things to try and get rid of it, but to no avail, i was just reading a thread on here and it caught my eye again, and i had had enough of it, so i gave my screen a "gentle" punch and teh pixel is back working, w00t, previously i had tried applying pressure to the affected screen area with monitor on and off but nada, so i guess the moral of the story is, if its broke, punch it

it worked and it was a gentle punch and lcd screens are alot stronger than most ppl believe, ive had this particular one for 3 years and i had cleaned the screen with force, pushed the screen until you can see the liquid start moving when it was on, and til the pixel problem, it has worked perfect, and it was more of a knuckle punch directly on the affected area, i have another lcd screen and it is also as tough as this one, especially when cleaning and it streaks and you have to use some force for the streaks to come off on the whole screen....

Hmn guess that answers why only my DELL lcd breaks so easily. 'lcd screens are alot stronger than most ppl believe' guess that doesn't includ DELL lcd's

Glad it worked for you, but i still wouldn't recommended it. Mainly because people are gonna blame you for recommending doing that lol. I'm sure you know how people blame other's when it's their own stupidity that's usualy causing a problem. Be careful what you suggest

BTW what works once might not work again, even a gentle punch can break a lcd screen *cough dell inspiron 8000 lcd cough* And theirs a big difference between streaks and a stuck/dead pixel lol (use windex, it leaves no streaks! lol)

i have tried lots of things to clean lcd screens i have tried window cleaner stuff, i have tried vinegar, and most if not all when dry leave faint streaks which is barely noticeable when the monitor is on, i have even purchased special stuff "so they say" that was designed for lcd monitors and that was the worst stuff i have ever used... but it bugs me knowing its there, so i just use water and a cloth similar to the ones that you would use to clean glasses with, and the streaks are nowhere to be seen now.....
I also realise that what you say is true that people will blame you for bad advice, even if it did work for me, but on the flip side, when doing something that you know isnt a normal thing todo, you have to make up your own mind as to whether to do it or not...
i would not recommend it unless the warranty has run out and the pixel is in the centre of the screen, if it was on the edges of the screen, i would suggest leaving it.....

Hmm have you tried the spray for contacts and/or glasses? That thing works great for my glasses, car windows, lcd's, telescope lense and my projector lense... It doesn't leave that ghostly white streak and if u get the cloth version no little paper risidue (DIE KLEANEX!)

One day maybe we'll be able to get the 'self cleaning lcd' option'

Peace mate

Many years ago a guy that I worked with broke the LCD on his ThnkPad by resting his arm on it during a meeting. He took alot of crap for that and the boss was pi$$ed.

tbh, no i havent tried the spray for glasses, thats an idea, i never even thought of that, but i will give it a go, cuz even with water, unless i start rubbing it straight away with a cloth it leaves streaks/marks and i end up with a sore arm cuz ive been rubbing it too hard, - insert foul comments here - <--- for DB and gang .

but yeah that sounds like a good idea...

Peace

nh_mark - I really dunno but this medion lcd monitor has takin uber lots of punishment from me during its 3 years of life, maybe cuz its german made, i dunno, but it certainly is battle proven....
