ha there gonna be at CES, but 256 megs of static ram, which is processor cache, would be so large. Itd be larger then the CPU they show in that picture, so i dunno.

I posted this about 6 months ago straight after ces05. The price is expected to be around $15k. Cant see this really getting anywhere - who would want a super-computer for an ultra portable. They should have stuck it in a server where all the performance could be utilised. In the long run they probably will do this.

I am very doubtful about the truth of this..... 6 GHz?? that micro would melt... Not to talk about radiation...

I know that quantum computing is being investigated, and that there will be computers that powerful, but in the future. And I mean 5-10 years by future, not today.

Maybe NSA already has this technology, but be sure they will not offer it for sale..... Can you imagine implications on cryptography? on AES, SSL, RSA...? Such a powerful computer would be close to break known algorithms, and that means power, what means that NSA will not allow anyone else to have that tech (not now). And this is just one possible consequence......... (what about intel, amd? do U really think that Microsoft has already compiled Windows for this hardware and not said anything yet?)

Anyway, time will tell but I do not believe that web...........

I'm curious why there hasnt been more mainstream press on this.... usually when new technology hits the market, all the geeks site are reporting on it (i.e. slashdot, digitimes, tomshardware...etc). Truth be told this is the first I've heard of it

most of the geek sites has responded to this. it's a hoax.

I guess no one took the time to look at the lettering that was on the upclose pictures. Its all photoshopped. What a friggen joke.

Doesnt windows xp only support up to 2.75gb's of ram? Thats why it looks like a fake to me.
This was brought up yesterday as well. It's obviously a hoax. There are a million give aways, the most obvious being that Windows XP 64-bit can't support more than 128GB of RAM or so. Not to mention the processor chip would be frigging huge with 256MB on-board memory. The new Itanium has 24MB on-chip and that thing is like three times the size of that Atom chip.

of course it's joke. first of all, optical componets do exist, but do not look like that.

There are no commerical optical processers or ram, and if there were, wouldn't you expect to see a difference from the regular stuff.

Oh, and if you look closely at the lens, you can see the sea monkeys inside/...

gotta love slashdot!

When I read the title, I thought GO-L had come back again

The website is so unprofessional, the english is a little 'off', and one of the diagrams says "1) connectors", who labels 'connectors'!? LOLOL

that looks like some jackass just printed off some stickers and threw it onto his ram, plus i doubt windows would even recognize that cpu or ram

You people are so cruel, ruining the starter's of the post dreams.

*turns to thecow*

Sure it exists...sure it exists..just like Santa Clause and the Tooth Fairy they all exist in one ahppy world and maybe if you are a good boy/girl, the laptop will visit you and give you presents while your asleep....
