I have the 4005 and I have the same problem when I play game thats go to a black screen for a second for loading, it occurs in the upper and lower part of the screen. It doesn't really bother me because it goes away when the game starts and what not.

Dead pixels, or stuck pixels for that matter are not too difficult to check for.

First test, would be to, if possible remove as many icons from you desktop as you can and set your background to a solid color.
The first two colors would be black, and then white.

The black background will show many stuck pixels. The white background will show most dead pixels.

Another method, would be to load up a program like IrfanView and under it's options, set the window background to either of those colors and move it around your screen to try and locate dead/stuck pixels.
