The 5400rpm hard drive is a definite benefit and up to 50% faster in seek time versus the slow standard notebook hard drives.

5,400 RPMs

I noticed the load times for UT2k4 (in single player mode) go from 5-6 minutes to less than 18 seconds! Well worth it to me.

And that's just one example.
