Audio Interface with pc. card Firewire

Is anyone running an audio interface through a firewire pcmcia card (6 pin) on their laptop? If so, do you have any issues with lower quality sound? Also, are you able to run your interface on bus power (if it has the capability)?

Not me, but one of my buddies runs his MOTU 828 through a comp usa pcmcia card.........Sounds great. He has to have the notebook plugged in in order for things to run prperly though.
