So i took DELL off my list and decided on a Toshiba, I researched and realized the ONLY one that seems to be customized is the M40 cool no prob. I begin customizing and then i get to the RAM, and I see $400.00 for a 1gb of ram 1 dimm!!! and I refreshed my screen and still there, first i was in shock then i laughed at you will be this stupid to pay 400 for a 1gb of ram..........LOL

toshiba must really rely on suckers for this one.......

wow what a joke.....bye bye toshiba.

Umm, why don't you just order it with less rum and buy the ram separately by yourself? That's usually the cheaper way with any computer anyway...

I would think that the more rum you ordered with your laptop, the better you'd feel and the faster your laptop would appear to go. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

100 or 400....100 or 400....100 or 400.....

Hmm no offence, but what is the debate here????

ok 100 is expensive, what does that make 400??? lol

What makes this perhaps even funnier (for me) is that I happen to be a rum drinker (www.susimetsa.net/rum/)...

EVERYONE knows you don't buy RAM upgrades 'til later.

How noob of you to think otherwise.

depends on what you like to drink....

still it is a well known fact that all and i include dell in this as well computer brands overcharge on additional ram. this is because they believe it or not dont actually make a huge profit off the actual system. its like buying a new car where the factory options can add quite a bit to the base price. the best bet with the m40 is to do exactly what everyone else has already said, to buy the system and then get extra ram through newegg or a place like it. yes actually you were kinda bashing toshiba with the way your complaint about the price is worded.... its a valid complaint but ask if someone knows a way around it before calling toshiba customers suckers...

buy the way, the price for ram from newegg is as cheap as can be had, if it is $100 its highly unlikely that you will be able to get it any cheaper elsewhere.... sorry but there is no such thing as a $25 notebook upgrade....

hey guys i have heard everyone talking abt memory upgrade from newegg. I found this Kingston memory 1GB on newegg for $125, item #N82E16820172105. Its the only Kingston memory in the 1GB segment with 200 pin module. Tell me if this will work with my Toshiba M40-S417TD laptop which should come in middle of next week. I know crucial.com had their compatible memory upgrade for $160. It was not Kingston though and I think Toshiba recommends Kingston.
