|User Interface Revisions: Some of the most vocal feedback from the demo version was that the UI obstructed too much of the playing window. Although several people at ES shared what looked like favorable comparisons with other big RTS games, we did some quick research and have put together a revised, smaller UI. This was accomplished over two days of very fast work by Art Lead Dave Kubalak, Programmer Michael Bean, and Lead Programmer Dave Pottinger. We have been going back and forth on the UI size for a long time, but the web comments pushed us toward the revision. The new minimized UI was made available for testing in Age 3 version #3224.|
I could care less about the graphics honestly, but if the graphics suck even when they said

Of course they could always say that when they first made the graphics for the game, it was 5 years ago and it was good then.
Pokemon started development in 91 I believe and it didn't get released until a lot later when the game boy wasn't as popular lol.
