Bluetooth Dongle for Z70va

I decided to open up a separate thread for this topic. Anyways, I ordered my Z70Va yesterday from g2p.com, and today I received a call from Eddie. He mentioned that the Z70Va didn't come with internal Bluetooth, and instead came with a Bluetooth usb dongle, however it was v2.0. He also said that he has no idea whether or not Asus is releasing it with internal Bluetooth or not. So, I can either:

a) not get BT at all
b) get the v2.0 dongle which is about $30-40 cheaper
c) cancel my entire order

What exactly would be the difference from it being internal like we were lead to believe, as opposed to having a Bluetooth dongle? Is the only difference the fact that it is external on a little card, so to speak? Or are there performance/compatibility issues as well? What would you recommend me doing? Also, the reason why I went w/ g2p.com to order over ISTNC was because their shipping was about $30 cheaper.

Redmumba got his from Discount Laptops and he said that the bluetooth was internal. Maybe different resellers are getting different models? Can someone who got one from ISTNC comment on whether the bluetooth was internal or via a dongle?

from what i've heard, they have some of each. the non-bt started shipping last week and the internal bt ones came in today. again, they offer the ability to add bt at a later date to the non-bt ones with a dongle.

If you have the option to go for an internal, go for internal. I’m pretty sure there will be zero performance difference; however who wants to carry around a USB BT dongle? But if its a PCMCIA card, that means you can't use it for an audigy card later (when you could just nip the problem in the butt now by getting internal).

Bottom line… if you're going to want to use Bluetooth, get the internal one. You'd be selling yourself short if you didn't. If you don't think you'll use the BT, get the one without internal BT. I do think it would be good to have internal BT for resale later... that is unless BT comes obsolete when/if another wireless protocol comes around.

I dunno, I don't see how it could be such a pain carrying around something that weighs probably no more than 2oz. and is about the size of my pinky? Most likely all I'll be using BT for is my mouse. I just don't see why I would cancel my entire order due to the fact that it isn't internal BT? Is it really that big of a deal, because if it is, I'll think about it. BTW, he did say that it is USB.

Its not the size/weight that would bother me slightly, its just the fact that I would have to carry it around. Its a laptop and is ment to be portable. Having to carry something around makes it just that much less portable. Why would you want to carry something arround when there is an alternative that will give your the ablility to not have to?

Its your call man. I'm not telling you to cancel anything. If you want external, go for it. Hope you enjoy it

nah I completely understand what you're saying...it's just hard for me to decide what in the hell to do, you know? I'm leaving for college next saturday so I was hoping to have my laptop by this week, and the only way doing so is if I keep my order w/ g2p. If I go to ISTNC, I won't have it for a few weeks.

any other thoughts??

keep in mind that it's not too big a deal to not have your laptop the first few weeks of college - just use an old one for a little while before it ships.
