Hey, SidiusTej, what's the scoop. I am anxiously awaiting the report from your friend to go ahead and buy a Michaels Computer. Even without it I feel like everything is legit and I will probably go ahead and make the plunge soon with or without the report.

Your friend is out getting drunk or Michael is?

Would really like to find out about this. My sense is that its bogus. There's just too much. The size issues, the power draw issues, the language issues (FSB vs HyperTransport), the incredibly low weight, the statements about the graphix system.

I'd really give it some time MEDDUDE before you start plunking down money. At the very least, request a data sheet for the machine. If they don't have that, its definitely bogus. If they do, then you (and the rest of us) can check out the details to see if they are real or not.

What's the worst that could happen if you wait, you lose a couple of days of using it. Hey, that's not much too lose, not compared to $2500 to $3000.

Okay, I found the base computer Michaels is using. Its the same as the Hypersonic AX6, at least that's the case. Also same as the Voodoo Envy 855. But those are all not using the Athlon 64 FX51 and probably couldn't. But maybe Michael has shoehorned one in.

The above machines all use the Athlon 64 Mobile chip which is a far cry from the FX51.

Anyway, I emailed Michaels asking them for a data sheet. We'll see if they get me one and what's on it. I am pretty sure this MX51 is an exaggeration to get folks in there.

One thing, when I tried to order one, the link went nowhere.

This is not to say the above machines are not serious buggers. They are and they are also the trend to the future.

You're right, MARQUISDARQUIS, I will wait for some external report. He reports that the MX51 is being reviewed in Computer Gaming World mag. this month and it just hit the stands. I'm going to run out later and try to grab a copy.

It's looks as if he is updating his web site. You can't even order a desktop on it now. Everything has disappeared. Last week he had an archive area that let you go back to 1998 and look at his web site and the computers he was selling and every year thereafter. Quite cool. Gone now. I wonder what's up with all of this.

no he didnt get to go inside, no time

but its definitely an established business. and do add to that, when he was drivin over there they even have a commercial on the radio lol.
...so i got all excited that your freind was gonna go "check this out", and then he DROVE BY?

Oh well...if it's the same base model as the hypersonic and the voodoo, then it's probably just the same computer.

Sounds like Michael just likes false advertising.

Of course I'm just looking into laptops so who knows.
Actually all of those reviews are from 1999 or 2000. There has not been a single review since three years ago.
