Question about the pinning Mod?

Please excuse my ignorance but...
What's the addantage of doing the pin mod? From the sticky, you need a 400 FSB and, what does the jumper do? I'm just wondering why you'd go down to a 400 from a 500. Does it help with the overclocking?

The 400 will be modded to a 533. That way you save money by bying a cheap 400 cpu and modding it to a 533.

Probably asked before numerous of times, but what is the highest someone has gotten a 400fsb chip to run in a 9300? Kind of wondering about that, since the thought of the idea seems pretty damn good, Though heat could probably be a problem.

Someone got 2.66... not totally stable though. My 1.7 --> 2.26 is even able to undervolt to 1.30v. 2.4Ghz is sometimes doable, not always stable.

Lucios (sp?) got a 755 to run stable at 2.56 GHz (unstable @ 2.66) with RMclock and heavy volt modding but he was never able to hit 2.66 GHz stable.

A few people have managed to get the 745 stable at 2.4 GHz without volt mods and a few more with volt mods but it's very risky. There have been many that have failed.

There appears to be about a 50-75% success rate (maybe higher) for the 735 to hit 2.26 GHz without volt mods. I suspect most will hit it with volt mods although I have heard of one that didn't.

I have yet to hear of anyone failing to hit 2.13 Ghz or 2.0 Ghz with the 725 and 715 respectivly. (I love my 725 @ 2.13 GHz!)

Can you mod the 780? What would it clock at? And would it be stable?

No because it's already running at 533 MHz FSB... you can only pin-mod the 7x5 series.
