both found at ibuypower. i have to get a new machine, instead im buying a notebook finnally, i ned a notebook cuase im tired of carrying my shuttles around everywhere. i've got about 3k to spend but i really dont wanna rop that much on one seeing as how the updatability isnt where i would like.
i need somthing that will play the newest upcomming games, somthing a can watch dvd's with.. ect. basically a moble DTR but nothing ima regret carrying. at this point any laptop's better than my case, 19'' lcd, keyboard and mouse.

i priced these up with everything i think would work. what you guys think about this?

Probably,When I see 15.4 inchers, the graphics are usually only 128 mb
post #3 of 11
There's the Dell Precision M70, which has a 256MB NVidia Quadro, which by the way, would kick both of those cards' asses if it was overclocked to the 6800's speed, and it's 15.4".

isnt that card for video editing not gameplay?
For both
Yup, it's for both, especially if it's overclocked.

There is also the Sager Notebook NP7620 which has a 256MB DDR3 ATI Mobility Radeon X800 video card. They used to also offer a choice of the slightly better 256MB DDR3 Nvidia GeForce Go 6800, but it seems to not currently be available.

Although this machine weighs ~10 pounds, it would definitely be the most powerful 15.4" notebook on the market at the present time. It is also a desktop replacement in design if that is what you are looking for.

Even without it overclocked it is faster than those other graphics cards. And it is really more for CAD and DCC work more than video editing. I could be wrong though, but I don't know that the graphics card inherently helps video editing like the advancements to the Quadro line help the other programs (hardware AA lines etc).

Not that it wouldn't be able to video edit like a fiend though.

yea ive seen the sager many times although just relized it was a 15.4" lappy, buy man, that thing is thick, it looks thicker than the xps, witch is what i have been looking at alot recently. only cuase i do not want to have to sacrafice gameplay since ill mostly be doing that, music and photoshop cs2 9.0.

but when i went to go check out the price

over 3200

this is ridiculous

maybe i should just build another desktop

i would hate to ask for help cuase i notice everyone one this site seems to ask the same question 10 times a day. "what lap. should i buy?"

p-m or turion @ 2.13-2.26
x700 or 6600 preferably 256mb
2gigs mem
wide-screen 15.4 or 17''
under 3 g's hopfully under 2500

if possible not a beast of luggage to carry around

so far ive looked at those at the top being best compramise.... ive also looked into these:

ferrari 4005wmli
acer 8104
asus 270a refresh
xps gen 2...

i serioulsy dont wanna go over 2500 but i cant go over 3k
somone point me in the right direction......

and sorry for sp. i just woke up ill edit grammar and sp later

Just get a Dell 9300, it should meet all your requirements and then some. The only thing is that it has a 17 inch screen, but it still only weighs 8lbs with the 9 cell battery.
