I have an IBMt42 that I got for a GREAT price from a freind that needed to pay the bills, and it was still in the box, I already upgraded the ram to 1.5gb and the HD is 40gb which I would like to upgrade in the future, but my wireless card doesnt seem to have G capabilities. What can I do to get a G signal? Is there a card I can put in this? I would preffer one that does not have to have the notebook taken apart? If there is any can you please send me a link to a good one so I can order it? Thanks alot for the help.

AFAIK the T42 was not available with a "b-only" card...unless your friend cracked it open and swapped out the IPW2200 MiniPCI card for an old IPW2100. Or it's defective, which is why it was sold to you.
Anyway, it's not TOO hard to get at the MiniPCI slot. it's under the touchpad though; you have to remove the keyboard, and several of the screws on the bottom between the front and the keyboard (including the #1 screws on the front edge).
However, it'd be easier to buy a PCMCIA card...D-Link ones are nice.

The mini PCI card is under the palmrest on the T-41. Swap the card with an Intel 2200 B/G, which is a direct replacement and you should be good to go. www.newegg.com sells them.

I agree just get a Dlink card with a 54G and run the setup and be up in minutes if you don't want to take it apart as you said.....
