35 processes running why?

If I hit cntrl+alt+del it says I have 35 processes running... Is there a program that'll eliminate programs I don't need running or something? How can I correct this? Seems like an awful lot when I have nothing open Thanks

well, 35 can be an average ammount, especially if you have norton internet security installed. It adds processes like theres no tomorrow. With a fresh install of xp, i think i had 23 processes. After i foolishly installed internet security, i think i shot to 33. Awful, i know.
