wow it is truly amazing, i can honestly say i am wowed in every respect, the screen is very clear and crisp, if a little low res vertically
the remote rocks, something so small makes so much of a difference, i sit in bed, changing songs etc while my laptop is on the other side of the room
everything seems very quick, though install centrino hardware control to get it runnin properly
runing temp is about 50c normally and i am hitting 55 during intense read write
i will try and do a proper review when i get the chance, otherwise i will keep looking at this thread if u have any questions

Wow Man i got mine on tuesday and actually i was more impressed than you, this is a wonderful laptop and its specs rock.

Pentium M 760 2.0
512mb DDR2 3200 400mhz
ATI X700 128 mb
15.4”- inch TFT LCD WXGA (1280x800) display
with
- Crystal View
- High brightness
- Wide view
Remote control (built in) and InstantOn functionality
4 in 1 card reader supports SD/MS/MMC/MSPRO
multimedia storage cards
Built-in DVD Dual Double Layer (8.5GB)

and this thing is sooo quiet that you can't even notice the existence of a fan and there is this feature where you press a button that undervlocks the cpu and underclocks the vga card so you can get maximum battery life, quietness, and lowest temperatures.

I would recommend this notebook to anyone.

by the way dev how much did you get yours?

my specs r 1.86 1gig 400mhz ramddr2
mine was £900, only thing is i updated touchpad drivers and now the scroll bar doesnt work
useless thing i hate touchpads
what drivers are u usin, i tried the new omega ones but found the official ati catalysts with dhmod to be slightly better, still i only get roughly 2300 on 3dmark although a gentle oc to 360 380 bumped it up to 2600.
an amusing note to that is ati traytool reckons my gfx card is more efficient ocd, cos there r less artifacts than at default
have u installed centrino hardware control it is an amazing utility
when i set to battery optimized it clocks down to 800mhz and the x700 to 210 180 , no problems switchin either
keep us posted on what u r doin with it

Actually i use the stock ati driver that came with the drivers cd and for the touchpad i downloaded the new version from siemens site and its working perfectly with vertical and horizontal scrolling and yes i'm using the centrino hardware control, its a good tool to monitor your system and you know there is this button which has a fan onit that reduces the cpu speed to 660mhz u should try it........I just want to ask you something, when you use your dvd drive at full speed do u feel a little shake in your notebook because i do, its not of a bug but just asking????

i had another question considiring the ram, i saw in its specs that it supports up to 1 gig ram but when i opened the notebook yesterday it had 2 slots and was using samsung rams 400mhz, the question is does it support 533mhz and will it take 2 gig rams because i'm thinking of upgrading?

Hi,

I'm going to buy m1437g soon but before that I need to know some things:

1. How noisy the notebook is? I'll use it mainly for text editing and web browsing and I need almost absolute silence (I work in very quiet environment). Is this "quiet mode" button working as advertised? How about HDD and DVD drive noise?

I'm using Acer Travelmate 4651LCi now (1.6 centrino, integrated graphics, undervolted) but the fan is always on when plugged in AC (even in idle). And it's definitely loud. Does m1437g behave similar?

2. Does the notebook come with XP installation CD? My Acer doesn't but instead it restores partitions from ghost images. I don't like it - I cannot even repartiton the disk.

3. Does it get hot (or overheating)? I need it working 16h/day (mostly in idle) and I'd like to avoid random hangs.

TIA

1- I haven't seen a quiet notebook as this but you hear a little sound while copying files from or to the dvd drive.

2-it does come with an xp home edition cd with SP2.

3- Actually mine starts getting hot after like an hour but you wouldn't wanna put it on your lap as the graphics and the processor exhale from the bottom.

but believe me i'm really impressed with how quiet this notebook is even when the fan is at high rpms and actually i've left mine running for 2 and a half days and not a single hang but mine is the 2.0 version don't know about others.
i hope i helped.....

Hi guys!

So, you can't actually put the laptop on your lap? Not even when it's downclocked to 800Mhz?
