9300 rear speakers don't seem to work

i think they used to work but i can't remember. i'm talking about the speakers closer to the moniter. is there a way that i might have turned them off? it's really annoying because when i type it covers up the front speakers, muffling the high tones.

Rear speakers?? THERE ARE NO REAR SPEAKERS on the 9300, two up front and one subwoofer on the bottom thats all. Those are vents close to your monitor.

What?! I thought those were mics!
Mic doesn't exist on Inspiron 9300 neither XPS Gen2 (same chassis). No idea why since this is a high end notebook. My Inspiron 8000 has it.

Before I have a mic stand, I use my Sony StreetStyle headphone plug into the mic jack and speak into the left headphone. It work as a mic but you need to say it really really loud. lol

NO. They are electromanetic field recreators. NOrmally used to change weather and have a bout a mile range. but dont tell this to any liberals, or theyll blame Bush.

I use them to store paperclips and other small metalic objects. Bit useless though, they keep falling inside...

I thought they were speakers at the very beginning (LOL), but if you put your hand against it with the fans on high, you can actually feel an air current. It sucks air into the fans. I guess it's useful when you put your laptop on a soft surface and the bottom fan vents are blocked, the fan can still suck sufficient air through the heatsinks. =)

i guess i read something wrong in the beginning. since there are only two speakers they would be much better placed on the moniter panel. for those of you that thought i was talking about a rear channel, you're nimrods.

There isn't too much room for decent speakers on the LCD panel...or is there?
