How to get 720p/1080i to my plasma tv?

I'm thinking about just trying out my i9300 to show off the HDTV capabilities of my plasma tv. I connected my laptop using DVI to my HDTV, but how do I get it to display the 720p/1080i resolutions?

Well, the 1080i is a resolution of 1920X1080 and the 720p has a resolution of 1280X720. Just change the resolution to any of those settings and you will be viewing a HD picture on your HDTV. You will need to download a high defenition video in order to view a video at a HDTV resolution. www.wmvhd.com has some samples and I am sure there are some new h.264 HD QuickTime samples on the internet as well. You can slo set a game to any one of those resolutions and it on your TV.

I just got a Tosh 27" lcd and thats HD, I put the PC on it at 1366x760 or 768 and it looks pretty good. I will have a look at the HD sites.

To get it to work all I did was enable the 2nd monitor out and set it to a HD resolution made it primary and set the other monitor to disabled. Worked a treat

The Dell drivers (72.01 & 77.24) wouldn't let me add the plasma's native resolution in PowerStrip. When I installed the 77.77 drivers from laptopvideo2go, I could add a custom resolution that is close to the plasma's native resolution, but I lost the ability to have the desktop appear on the plasma when I turn on the PC in single display mode, even though the plasma is the primary display. I always have to switch over using Fn+F8.

well, it seems when I connect my laptop to my plasma, I can only set resolution for ONE screen and it just doesn't work. when I use dual screen, the mouse cursor moves over from the first to the next, but I can't choose different resolutions for different screens. A step by step guide would be very helpful.
