I have too a Ferrari 4002 and this laptop rule

The crystalBright screen (on ferrari 4002 only, not in 4005) is so cool
I just playing CS:Source, GuildWars and Doom 3 without problems with this laptop.

Here some test with this laptop (Ferrari 4002) and Catalyst 5.8 :

Half-life 2 - Video Stress Test at 1280x800 = 92 Fps

Doom 3 - timedemo 1 at 1024x768 = 47,8 Fps

3dmark2003 - at 1024x768 (default) = 5160

The harddrive is a 80 Gigs at 5400rpm for info.
When i use this laptop in some conference (2 hours), i just use lower brightness (for battery life) and close my screen when i dont need it and im at 50% after this 2 hours. Then, it's ok.

You can use this laptop on your bed without problem. The "fan-exit" is at left of the laptop (not below ... like some laptop). Then its cool !

you guys are amazing with the info!!! Yeah, I'll be having to use the laptop for conferences, so yeah i'll just lower the brightness, turn off sound, and close the screen like you did when i'm not note taking. You guys are truly brillant... Man though your screen shots go5700 are making me drool... I want to hold it so badly.

Hey, Just out of curiousity how much faster (if it is) is the laptop AMD Turion 2ghz compare to the Pentium 4 with H/T 3ghz for desktop. How would i go about finding this info. Cause i've heard that AMD's run faster then Pents
post #30 of 48
thats dependant on what youre doing. gaming the amd will be faster for HT apps the pentium will be faster.
comparing a chip that uses 35w to a chip that uses 100+ is really comparing apples to oranges tho.
when you compare price to performance the amd (be it a turion or a dual core deskop) will kill the pentium in games, and run close for most others. with the money you save going amd its likely that youll be able to trump the intel across the board. (processor, memory and generally mobo's all cost more for intel)
the only thing about amd right now is that they have a new socket coming soon for their desktops. socket m, but im a lil fuzzy on it.

Eum, OK ...
I will explain in basic words ... if im so "truly brillant ..."

Laptop = Battery in laptop
Battery in laptop = Duration
Duration = Depend context
Depend context = an usage in a conference "X"
an usage in a conference "X" = 2 hours
2 hours = -50% (battery)

Then, some maths
-50% = 2 hours
2 x (-50%) = 2 x (2 hours)
-100% = 4 hours

Does "4 hours (for battery life)" can be an info ?
--> No, without context this number say nothing

You lost ?
Then, whats the "info" ?
--> Everything before "for info."

???
--> The harddrive is a 80 G - 5400 rpm

Ahhhh ...
--> Yeah, yeah !

I'm mainly going to play Warcraft 3, and possible Battlefield 2, and hopefully some other games in the future. Plus do a lot of school work, surf the net, etc. I might use it for some 2d graphics and some small 3d, and some flash.
I'm not sure if it's been posted because I only had time to read the first page. But if your going to play Battlefield 2 you need the 4005, Battlefield 2 requires 1.7 GHz. So it says.

How much of a difference does the 0.4 ghz make. Is it quite noticeable?
Will I be able to later change the cpu with a 2ghz Turion?

Probably nothing too extreme. I'm not too worried about it. I'm picking up the 4002 tomorrow.
post #40 of 48
i bought the 4002. have played with it for a week, incl battlefield 2 and have no problems on everything set to high except for one or two things. beautiful machine. admittedly though the screen could be better and the mouse is not usable but everything else makes up for it.
