Hp Nc8000 - Page 3

You can use powerstrip or radclock or some of the tuning utilities found at http://www.rage3d.com/

I use radclock (small, easy, and can overclock)

344/209 shows radclock. Memory propably needs some boosting.

Wow! That core is running higher than I expected! Great news!

I was able to overclock the memory on the 32 mb to about 290 rock solid, no artifacts and not hot (stock speed was 200).

My 3dmark2001 score went up a lot with memory overclocking too.

344 Core! Imagine that....sweet.

Gonna overclock? If so, can you post 3dmark2001 scores again?

I appreciate your posts and time....

i wont be giving a review of the nc8000 i ordered because two days i cancelled the order. HP informed me that the computer was going to be delayed by two weeks. Dell came out with the 9600 pro in the i8600 so i ordered that instead.......i got better features, same warranty for about 200 bucks less!

Here in Finland Dell doesn't come with 9600 (yet, I think) and price gets way up with same configs with Geforce. But this is here. I noticed dell is much cheaper in US than in here. And everything else is cheaper in US than here.

Well, I rather live in here than in US.

Example Inspiron 8600:
PM 1,3
WSXGA+
64Mb GeForce4 4200 Go
30Gb hd
512 (2x256)
DVD-rom 8x (no cd-rw)
Mini PCI Wireless LAN TM1300 (b/g)

=2380e1 This is ridiculous. And now you can't even get the 1 year warranty so you have to get 3-year on-site warranty which gives the total of:

2921,90 euros........... oh my god.

These prices include 22% of tax.

Another example of 8600:
PM 1,5
WSXGA+
128MB GeForceFX Go5650
40Gb hd
1x512
DVD/CD-RW Combo 24X
Mini PCI Wireless LAN TM1300 (b/g)

=3451,38e (with one year warranty it would be: 2909,48e).

My nc8000 here costed 2400e so this is one of the reasons why I didn't bother wait for the Dell with 9600.

Analyssi,

Can you update us on your overclocking and performance?

Any details are fine...

Do you REALLY like the notebook?

Done any gaming?

Another review would be good. Have you experience any abnormalities? Anything you find you doin't like? How's tech support (I know HP has sucked in the past)? Pictures? Is there a internet scroll on the trackpad?

An issue with spacebar. Written here:

In here (Finland) tech support should be just fine but I have heard something that in US it isn't. This has 3 year 2 business day pick up & return warranty = they come pick it up and return it in 2 business days, so that's kind of nice and easy.
