Just a thought here 1 out of how many systems is a lemon? Just trying to measure my odds i know i am to expect some light leakage and some sparkle so i could live with that but aside from that what other issues.

1 out of how many 9300 is a lemon? What do you think?

Let me make it easy for you. All of these systems have some amount of "light leakage" on their screens and as for "sparkles", all of the LCD panels have this effect at high resolutions and on light backgrounds. Don't listen to what these people say on here...it is a NON issue. The anal people here read about these things and then immediately go to look for these imaginary problems and blow things out of proportion. The fact of the matter is that Dell laptops have these properties and they are considered normal. You will enjoy your purchase more immensely if you ignore the negative posts on here.

We would have no idea what the problem ratio is, plus you can always return within 21 days if there is a problem, so again, don't worry about it.

Sorry man, mine is an apple. I don't know whether to complain to DELL or APPLE.

Psha, you pipedown and love what you get.

I got a little light leakage, but hey, it doesn't really distract you, nor does it put extra stress on my eyes, so mine is no lemon.

I got one bad stick of ram out of my 2, but I'm going to just call Dell and request a replacement. It's not too bad an issue.

I agree w/ Howdog. Light leakage is only apparent to me during windows XP loadup screen. If it gets so bad that your Windows Taskbar is glowing, then you might have to worry.

Even when viewing a DVD, it shouldn't be so distracting that it keeps you from enjoying the movie.

the sparkle thing is totally blown out of proportion by obsessive compulsive laptop buyers. light leakage can be severe as it was on my system however after a few weeks this dissipates, my screen is totally fine now, very little leakage, certainly nothing above normal for a laptop screen and yes, all laptops have light leakage.
The 9300 is really an excellent machine.
Sparkle.......this soo called sparkle is the anti reflective coating on the lcd panel, with an LG panel it looks a bit metallic and dusty, with a samsung the coating is more of a transparent patterned sheen. I have the samsung and have no troubles at all with mine. Its an LCD screen, they simply arent as sharp as CRT screens.

It has been reported in the forum that light leakage can go away with time. That is what happened with my LG screen.

Dell aim for a defect ratio of 2200 per 1,000,000 units this would include any cosmetic damage a system might have aswell as any hardware problems that might cause a system to fail extended test while in production. Of this number of systems virtually all are repaired before shipping leaving a final customer fallout rma rate for hardware issues of @1 in every 5000 that require an actual visit from a tech. The thing about this number is that dell do not count lcd panels that are rma'd due to dead pixels unless there is a cluster of 5 or more than 7 dead pixels in total as with lcd panels this is an industry wide standard for panel acceptabilit

Ive heard very very few people with compaints about the 9300 or the XPS, Some of these threads had me soo worried before my system arrived, once it did I was pleasantly surprised and the 9300 exceeded my expectations.
