Wanna make my S360 lighter.

The light weight of the S360 is fabulous, let me just say that first. I could hardly ask for a more convenient laptop as powerful as this one is. I would've gotten a lighter one though if I didn't need the feature set of the S360 so much. So I was wondering does anyone use "lightweight batteries" ... or maybe replace other components ... to shave off just a few ounces?? The thing weighs 4.1 lbs but I think it would be great if I could get it down to even just 3.8 or something. (I think it weighs 3.3 with the battery OUT, which is just a joy to hold when I take it out while it's plugged in) Just a college student here who carries his laptop around EVERYWHERE and can't wait until 2008 when laptops of this power weigh a pound or less ... heheh ... (it will happen!!)

Nope no way of saving any more weight. Sony already pushed the weight down as much as possible. magnesium lcd lid n chassis; intergrated cd/dvd; aluminum cooling solution(copper/aluminum would have been a better choice);motherboard have onboard 9700 and so on.
Battery wise theres only 2 batteries for it, the one it comes with and the extended one which is about .25lb more

Take out the cpu heatsink. It's worthless paperweight.

Take the battery out, and run it just on AC power. That's about all you can do with a laptop that doens't have removable drive bays. Everything in the S360 is kind of important... I don't think Sony engineers put them there just for sheets and giggles.

that would work too. Add a 10 lb weight into your backpack. After a month, you'll appreciate just how light this thing is.

Hehe we can walk together and you can carry my Dell XPS2 + power *brick* while I carry your Sony. It'll feel like a feather in about 2 minutes or so...
