Okay I e-mailed DELL, they shipped the following:
Windows OS
Drivers & Utilities
Applications

okay, so I just toss away the box and shipping label now right?

I called them and got the same. They were good about it. It is just a shame, that they did not include the drivers disk and the os disk.

Yeah, they sent me all the cd's I was missing (including OS). All I had was AOL free trial cd and word perfect. The guy over the phone was like "that's it?". Plus they are sending me a new HDD, old one died on my less than week old laptop.

I just emailed them for the disks. I said I had to format because a virus was screwing me up.

Here;s to hoping they don't see past my lies and send me the disks I deserved to get with my system.

To top it off I mentioned that I left my burnt Windows disk at home when I came to college. Which is also a lie. I have it here, but I want the real thing.

Yes sometimes they won't give you a hard time but sometimes you get one of those techs that insist for you to use the F11 feature. And beleive me there is a huge difference when a clean install is done the bloatware is awfull. The best way to get all the disc when your computer first ships while you are within the 21 day return period because you can just call and tell them if you can't send me all the disc which are installed on the pc i will returne it.After all we do deserve a copy of all software which came installed with our machine.I for one that is the first thing i do when i get a new pc is do a clean install defraging inbetween software instalations with all the latest drivers and install just the programs i want. Then create a image of my hardrive useing ghost after i have all my programs ,updates and games installed and while evrything is fresh.

Thats the way to do it

So I got them. I'm a bit dissapointed that the Windows disk is a Dell one rather than an official retail Windows disk.

i ordered a xps gen 2 today and asked for all of the cds, he said they come automatically with the computer - is he talking about the correct cds that i need or different ones. Er...which ones do i need to do a clean install? Im in the UK if it makes any difference,

Thanks
