Ran Bart's PEbuilder and no hd errors after an hour of transfers.

Ok, sleep time but I think I will ghost my 6809 back to it one more time.
I then disable DEP and try the updates again.

Going to the office tomorrow to grab another hd to try etc.

If I get the ghost done tonight I will try the memtest also.

Thunder, thnx for the offer and I will send the next BSOD dump.

It'll probably just contain "USERSUKSUSERSUKSUSERSUKS"....

Running memtest 3.2.

When I select "start testing" I am wiped out being shown requestor after requestor of error found with word pair ......blahblah.

At the bottom it says Preparing and pretesting memory.

I basically have to shut down the program in the task manager.

I'm going to find another mem tester for a second opinion. Then I might yank out the 2nd 512chip and retest.

Thanx Thunder, I know, told ya so...

Ok thunder, grabbed a file off majorgeeks (RightMark Memory Test) and tried for a second opinion.

Same results: memory is bad.

Ok, I removed the "easy" stick of ram and ran the tests again:
No errors.

Time to phone emachines and see if I have to ship the whole unit or if I can just sub the ram.

Update:

Even without the "bad" ram the machine has problems finding files on my original XP64 cd and WindowsXp cd. These are original's not cdrw etc.

When installing xp it will say Can't find files like gfxg.dl_ etc. I check the cd on another machine and the file is right there no problem.

So I think I have a machine with a bad stick of ram and a faulty dvd.

Just waiting for my replacement restore cds in the mail to test and then confirm another RMA.

Hey, it's been in the shop over 120 days total over 9 months already! Well the silver lining is that its been upgraded 2X and my 3 month warrenty from Dec 2004 looks like it will run past Dec 2005 . heehee

Not really laughing though...
