The program, and oftentimes windows as well. I have tried WinAmp, Windows Media Player, and Real Player, with winamp being the best of the bunch but still sub-par.

I'm running 64 bit windows and I have tried both players I have and no problems. I even had Itunes playing two different songs at once. they didnt' both play but whichever one was highlighted would start playing ammediatly with no problems and switching from song to song in media player 10 was no problem either. You might want to make sure you have the latest REALTEK drivers.

Dunno Hope you figure it out. That would be frusterating for sure...

I think I have a problem similar to yours.
When I bought my 4005, whevener I was listening to background music (mp3 in winamp) and was working on other programs on the foreground, the CPU at very close time intervals would max out to 100%! I could see that in the Performance >CPU Usage History. So the whole system was halting for a few seconds, and at times I would have to close the Winamp in order to resume control.
But these problems have been minimized since I installed the new RealTek drivers (http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&Software=True)
You might wanna consider installing them if haven't done so.
Let us know if you notice any differences

I installed the old ones that people with the popping noise were using and it seems to have gotten better, but still isnt up to 100%

For those of you running XP x64...where did you get it?

I have a simular problem on my Travelmate 8103.

Music is lagging, but only when using the build-in speakers.
And without going to 100% CPU usage.

Actually I think it is the notebook in general, that is lagging, but it is most obvious when playing mp3's.

I had it sent in, and return with "no problem found".

It's going back!

My 8103 is 1 month old.

Hi..
I have a simmiler problem with my laptop F-4005, when I use the media player (or winamp) in audio streaming over the internet (with max volume) and in the same try to open/close, delete or any command the laptop halting for (4-5 seconds) and then completes the command.. I installede the windows xp pro again, have it updated to the latest update.. and I hade all the laptop parts and bios latestly updated.. and I was not running too many programs,, it is enough for the media player on streaming and with loud volume to make the laptop freezes..
I know some about software but I tried to solve this problem and the way to solve it is when I make the volume low the laptop operates OK,,,
PLzz is it some problem with the sound card or Proccessor?? How to solve it?

For your knowledge,, many Ferrari 4000 useres complain from the bad quality of the sound card!!

maybe the problem can be solved with the SB Audigy 2 ZS Notebook.
it would no be the first problem with the soundcard.
i´ll never be a friend of onboard sound

www.realtek.com.tw and download the latest drivers. Right now they are the 3A.81 IIRC.

Reading the readme they specify that they fixed some errors that occured during music playback and WOW
