*Computer Is Dead!* Help me to make sure!

Hey guys

You may remember I recently had a thread about which PSU to buy for my new computer, well i decided to go with the OCZ ModStrea 520 Watts, a great PS. BUT! today after I plugged everything in and made it semi neat/tidy looking, I pressed the power button, and voila! Everything worked..

EXCEPT FOR

MY video card was not displaying any images!! I have an Radeon 9600 Pro, and today after I put everythign back in w/ the new power supply, theere is still no video!! I tried on a dif. monitor w/ a VGA connection and that didn't work either! My current monitor uses DVI and that obviously didn't work!

So, after trying two different types of monitors, and plugging in the AGP card again in the AGP slot (took it out and put it back in) but to no avail!

For the Radeon 9600 Pro series, all you have to do is just plug it in right? No power cable required to go to it or anything like that right? (I know it si a noobish question because it has no places to put stuff like that in - but just askign!)

What could be wrong? What should I fix? How can I test if my video card still works?!

UPDATE

The video card works in my other computer! (popped it in fast to make sure that it wasnt the card..and it worked! So why isn't ti working in my computer??!?

Maybe I am missing a MB connector..

Do you have another video card to test in your PC? It could be as simple as a BIOS setting or as catastrophic as a MB failure. DOes the machine even display the POST screen on bootup or nothing at all? Does the PC appear to be loading your OS even though nothing is displayed on screen (obvious by disk activity)?

Yes I tested with anotehr video card - to no avail!

The MB seems to be the issue, maybe I messed up a configuration thing! My MB is Giga-byte 81K1100 i875p btw!

So you did use another AGP video card in your existing motherboard, with the same result?

875P is with integrated video right? if so, go in your bios and change your display to AGP..

Well..figured it out! (And it's baaaaad news!)

Well, after my PSU died that one fateful morning, it damaged my mb - beyond repair. My MB is now dead. Which is why I had no video, even though everything else seemed fine, even my video card. I know it wasn't the CPU because I took off the CPU Heatsink, and turned on the PC for like 4 seconds, and it didn't get hot, and I told all this to this professional computer store near my house.

They said that all the facts lead to a dead MB. The PSU was probably the reason for this, and when I took all the ram out of my system to run some tests, the MB didn't respond, so it is was either that or dead CPU. I took off CPU heatsink, and put my finger on the chip for a few seconds - it didnt heat up, which they told me could be because hte MB isn't even powering hte chip!!

So, it is the MB. Even though I have a great board (GigaByte) it just died thanks to the crappy PSU. So..I will try to get a new one under warranty from GB or just get a new one if I can't get one for free under warranty!

Will post results!

That's too bad, but good that you know what the problem is. Chaulk another motherboard/component death to a bad/low quality power supply.

Hopefully people here will take more notice, or we'll end up with more people like Mobile_Hackbox:

I got a TV tuner, modem, all the works. As a matter of fact that one looks just like my nSpire I bought for $25. BTW, you will still need to take it apart every once in a while to get the dust out or it will fail from overheating.
*URGENT* My computer died on me! Help ASAP!
