Have You Heard? Dell Coupons No More As Of Tomorrow!!! - Page 2

Dell can't repeal the law of gravity

What Dell hasn't learned is that while you play chicken with your most important customers ---young enthusiasts--- they will buy from someone else. Not only will you lose that sale but they will shift their loyalty and will be hard to win back. And in five years they will be making the buying decisions for whole IT departments.

Computer prices are on a permanent one way street pointed down. There has never been a time where you could not get more for less ninety days later. Wait until Dell starts losing market share to HP, Acer, Futijsu, Sony, etc. Watch its stock drift downward. Watch the prices of loaded XPS2's drop like rocks as Dell marketers are fired and replaced by smarter ones.

Meanwhile my friends, BOYCOTT DELL!!

if Dell goes coupon-less, you're going to see their prices drop anyways, as they were artificially raised to offset some of the coupons. Saying Boycott Dell because their coupons expired is silly.

WHY IS DELL SO HATED? I have a dell desktop and with NO internet and use it for my heavy music production and never had a problem. 100gb hd and 2 gb ram.

Big companies, especially those at the very top, seem to be hated simply because they are so big. Dell, Microsoft, WalMart, etc.,

Get too big and too popular and you are just looking to get kicked it seems. Human nature is a funny thing.

Now I'm glad I got mine when I did.

from what i can tell (this is just me talkin heh) dell has been getting angry with the way affiliate coupons have been distributed, they were never ment to be used by "joe smith". the way dell employee coupons work now, is that each employee has their own code, which can be used only once per quarter, then it becomes invalid. latley we have been instructed to notify our boss whenever we process an order with an affilliate coupon, we can still honor them, but we have to notify dell each time we use it. i belive that we will still see affiliate coupons out there, but we wont be able to use them. either they will go through EPP (employee purchace program - no coupon code used, but are redirected to a pasworded web page with the discount applied) or the once per quarter individual codes, idk if it will work this way, but my personal guess is that joe smith wont be able to use these coupons annymore. my .02 (for annyone that doesnt know, affiliate coupons are the big ones out there $750 off, 40% off.. etc.. they are givin to employees of partner companies to dell, such as sonic , microsoft, samsung, etc...) normal discounts and sales will still be there, such as the 34% off every once in a while on the i-6000 (thats the best one they run folks), if you buy, go to a dell direct store to get it, (if you use affiliate coupons price will be the same as if you buy it online, but if you jsut go by standard sale price you can sometimes get a little taken off if you go to the direct store, ask the sales rep if there is a coupon he can give you for buying today.

yeh, my Sept. catalogue didnt have a coupon code on it. I thought something was up.
looks like im not buying a dell then.... i would have with the coupons but not now that it would cost me the same as some of the alternatives in the same power range as the xps2. dell just lost my business.

.

I disagree.....I think coupons are marketing schemes.

Iam getting a TOSHIBA NOW...for sure. I have like 2300.00 left on that account.

I don't hate Dell. I like Dell. But that doesn't mean I'm willing to pay, say $4000, for a well equipped XPS2 when they have recently been selling with coupons at around $2500. No need for an organized boycott. The marketplace is efficient enough without one. In 3 months the current loaded XPS2 will be just average, so Dell might as well sell as many as they can now.
According to t3h nub, discounts may be available by just asking the sales rep. That doesn't sound like much of a plan.

What is seriously sad, is that i was just about to order one after work tonight...any other companies that you recommend? I like toshiba but the forums avoids the questions about battery life.

Coupons will be coming back though, you can also check the outlet for a good deal or call dell and talk with a rep about a deal? maybe the prices will be coming down or something, tell Dell how you feel, see if they wont do something for you.

Good LUck

I don't resent Dell neither and don't hold anything personal against them. It's just my personal opinion that Dell is making some business damage to itself and its marketing and sale figures. Whether I'm right or not ... only time will tell. I also don't support any kind of boycott. There is no need neither power for sth. like that. Those few 10.000+ customers who buy their systems w/ coupons, don't mean that much to Dell. From the start the whole coupon deal was more or less a marketing strategy. Customers will decide where they will buy their future computer systems. So whether their HW will be Dell, HP, Toshiba or some other brand ... that's up to the customers. You have to understand that not that many ppl buy their Dell PCs with coupons. Let alone with some kind of discount. When they visit dell.com, they see $350 or $400 instantly off. So they instantly think "Wow, Dell is being generous. I must catch this deal." So they buy the PC a.s.a.p. Many don't even know about coupons and special deals and they aren't even informed about the prices of competitive systems. I was one of them about a year ago. The difference in price that is! But the HW, I'm pretty familiar with that part. I've become familiar with coupons only when I discovered NBF. You have to understand that ppl get adviced by others that Dell is a good brand. Which it actually is, if you look at their systems and what you get with it. But they are expensive. So the customers usually pay for the full price. The ones, who won't profit with this no-coupon policy, are the young and not wealthy ones. Or maybe even the informed customers (e.g. readers of a forum such this one). They won't be buying Dell's high-end notebooks, since they'll be waiting on some coupon deal. Which it might never come back. I think, they might decide to go and buy their systems elsewhere. Customer will have the final word, not Dell ... Oh, well ... just my 2 cents

Guys guys guys...I give it a month before we see a new coupon system. Dell isn't dumb, they realize that the coupons are what bring in most of the high end sales (XPS 600, XPS 2 etc.). They arent Alienware, they won't start running 500 dollar rebates that either A) are voided for being "incomplete" or B) show up 8 months later. They are winning this market (whether or not those on the "other" forum wanna believe it ) because they have produced an insanely powerful and equipped line (XPS) of performance systems and SELL them for REDICULOUS prices. 40% off is rediculous to me, anyway, and I love it.

Give it a few weeks and we'll all be back to enjoying the Dell discounts.
Eh, they'll come back. Dell would be stupid not to bring them back. They would lose so much business that it wouldn't even be funny. If they don't bring coupons back, their usual deals will be better. I do hope they come back before Christmas, though. I'm pretty confident they will be.
I agree. I'm pretty confident they'll be back soon. While they won't go bankrupt because of the sales lost from no coupons, they will lose money, and for a company that grows extremely rapidly, any loss of money is quickly noticed, and they will find out what is causing the loss, and they will work to fix it. The quarter ends at the end of this month. They might notice a loss by the end of the quarter.

The Inspiron 6000D is worth about that much IF its available with all the good features like cdrw/dvd or dvd burner and a good processor and the ati x300 card with 128 megs.

Those of you who missed out on the coupons can either wait til the end of th e year or perhaps dell will lower its prices OR you might get a good deal at the dell outlet with some careful shopping.
Im glad I didnt wait, I got my system in July after many months of putting off looking for better deals.
The quarter ends at the end of September.

I'm pretty sure the coupons will be back soon. I don't think Dell wants to lose that business, especially as HP is reporting a larger market share even when Dell did have the coupons. Without coupons, Dell's market share, for notebooks anyway, will just keep going down. They don't want to see that happen.

If the coupons don't return, however, I might actually consider getting a Sony. I love that 13.3" size.
my issue is that i was actually prepared to drop the money within the week for a loaded xps2 if they were running a decent deal im absolutely going to tell dell how i feel about this and i know that there are many other people out there who will vote with their wallets and tell them what they think that way. i have not always been a fan of dell after a bad experience in the past but because of the deal represented by the coupons and the good reviews of the xps gen 2 i was willing to give them another chance. i am going to be buying a machine soon as in within the next couple of weeks and if dell doesnt hit with some price drops or bring back the coupons they wont be on my list... and i think that many others are in the same boat and it will be a pretty rude awakening to dell when they see the sales take a big hit... maybe that will wake them up. but in the meantime its back to deciding on a machine to buy cause for the time being i am not looking to dell.

By what I read into what they said (just my thought-train of it), it sounded like they will be back. I try not to read too much in to what I hear as opposed to looking at their track record and seeing what they can gain or lose from something. I agree, I think they will be back.

I was aggrevated at it all for a good few hours last night, which obviously gets me nowhere, but I thought about how fast technology moves and with the year wrapping up, it doesn't 'seem' logical for prices to stay so inflated with coupons being gone. Not only will new technology drop the prices of what I was looking for myself, companies like HP as you said ^ are gunning for next step higher up and that should make things work their way out soon enough. I don't think Dell will risk the loss, but I guess it's for time to tell...

^Agreed as well, I may look to Sony since I've always been looking at them. They suddenly don't seem so overpriced when the margin between them and Dell's current prices don't seem to be quite as much of a gap. Still more than I want to spend, never the less.
