So people who have their z70va haven't seemed to have good words for the optical drive and I'm just wondering, what's so bad about it?
Also, has anybody found a drive yet that can use the face plate of the z70va drive and replace it? I'm just thinking of the standard drive is such crap, I'd just buy the CD-RW/DVD-ROM, take the faceplate, and buy a good replacement DVD-RW. It might be a little pricey, but I'm willing to pay extra for a quality optical drive.
And finally, how big of a deal is it that the optical drive & HDD are on the same IDE channel? My Dad has a Dell setup like that and it's never seemed to be that big of a deal, even when burning a CD.
EDIT: Rephrased to more accurately reflect my question (not judgement).
