New 6800Go Driver from Dell posted 9/14

Thread Starter
Just went to Dell's site a bit ago and downloaded a 6800 driver that had a 9/14 release date. From the Device Mgr I see a driver date of 7/6/2005, does this mean they just updated the posted date on the Dell site, or is this really a new driver? It didn't ask me if I wanted to replace existing files when I unzipped the exe, so I've never used this one before and I thought I had installed the newest drivers from Dell. Looks like the version uner Device Mgr is 7.8.1.1.

Has anyone used this? I installed it but i haven't benched it, played games, etc. Anyone have any thoughts?

Sorry if this has been posted (or if this is an old driver and I just think it's new), please delete my post or merge the threads.

The 78.11 driver has been out for a few weeks. Looks like Dell just finally chose to utilize them as a release.

From what I have read the temperature bug is back with this set.
Dell countered this by lowering performance of the driver.

Only what I have read over at laptopvideo2go, I chose to bypass this set and stick with what I currently run so I have no actual results.

what's the point of new drivers if they create more heat, and therefore need to have performance reduced?

installed the dell drivers just to try. been using the 77.77s so far.

dell's drivers won't save the enabling of triple buffering. how lame is that? i won't be using them. i might try the 78.03s

I use the 77.77's
I've heard the 80.40's are faster, but have compatability problems.
imo the 77.77's are fine, fast enough for me.

Just downloaded them and went from 11,490 on 3dmark03 to a sweet 12,200. I dig em and they feel fine on cs source.

i use vsync in all my games b/c i can. 1440x900 native + 6800 ultra is great for that, so trip buffering is important for me and dell doesn't allow that setting to stick.

i'm using the 78.03s now and they seem to be just fine.
