1) operates around 5.4 GHz (relatively uncrowded)
2) has range from 25 to 75 feet, with trouble from blocking objects (i.e. walls).
3) Bandwidth up to 54 Mbps

802.11b -
1) operates around 2.4 GHz (relatively crowded from microwaves, certain cordless phones...)
2) has range around 100-150 feet, depending on construction, but usually wall-piercing.
3) Bandwidth up to 11 Mbps (but cable usually does no more than 4/5 Mbps)
4) Super popular
5) Least expensive
802.11g -
1) operates around 2.4 GHz (relatively crowded from microwaves, certain cordless phones...)
2) has range around 100-150 feet, depending on construction, but usually wall-piercing.
3) Bandwidth up to 54 Mbps (note - same as 802.11a)
4) Backwards compatible with 802.11b (yay!) Sorry, 802.11a.
5) Middle cost
