Area-51m 7700 6800 Go Ultra Upgrade - Page 2

I spoke with AW 2 days ago about an upgrade. Since my 7700 is in depot anyway, I was curious. The quote that "I" got from AW was like $700ish, I cant remember exactly what it was, but I do know it was in the $700 range. This was with the latest MOBO upgrade, 7700 Ultra card, and a new adapter. The only reason I did not purchase this order right now is because im waiting to see if my motherboard is the reason for the issues that I had it sent in for. If I need a motherboard replacement, hopefully it will be the latest revision board. That would knock off however much out of the 700 bucks and save money!

I had my laptop sent in once before in which they replaced my motherboard. I had an older revision board and they replaced it with the latest one, at that time. I asked them afterwards if I could use an ULTRA card with this revision, they replied "yes". But now, unfortunately, they tell me that it WONT support the ULTRA card, and that there is ANOTHER revision out that will support it. It was rather strange that they told me this, because when they released the ULTRA card, the revision that I had installed from the first time it was in depot i was quite sure was the one that was being circulated to customers with the ULTRA card. I want to say it was revision 5.2b. I could be wrong though.

But in either case, its no sweat off my back, its the life of owning a computer. As soon as you buy an upgrade, something better comes out, new and improved. Im not in any rush for an upgrade at this point, however I have had to scale the graphics down a bit to accomidate the demo of F.E.A.R.. If I cant play F.E.A.R. at its full potential at its release, then I may consider upgrading.

Dude, if you ever have problems with that laptop you don't even have yet, don't even think of posting your problems on here, because we'll all make you eat your arrogant attitude. Someone is disgruntled that a laptop he paid several thousand dollars for breaks down and therefore he must be a "n00b." He expresses displeasure at Alienware and so he doesn't deserve to have one. Hell, he probably doesn't even have one at all, yeah he must be a Dell troll because no computer Alienware ever made ever had a fault. Got news for ya, kid. No company is perfect. No person is either, and if someone's at his wits end with his computer and needs to vent, chill the **** out and let him. This forum is about helping people out with their problems, not telling them to stop whining.

Yes, because it's the epitome of idiocy to think that calling the company would ever actually get the problems fixed. Man, people are such "n00bs." When they've gone to customer service and get nowhere, you really can't understand that they'd be a little pissed off? Wow.

wheres the love gone?

There's an error on the slide.

It says 6800 Ultra released 10month ago.

The 6800 ultra hasn't been released 10 month ago...

This was the ddr2 or ddr3 version.

Code,
Can you update this when you get more info from Alienware.
Your information would be valuable for other AW 7700 owners.
Maby we can twist this back onto the intended topic.

Gotta love those kids that talk smack about AW with no proof of what they are talking about... And don't start saying you 'talked to them on the phone', go bitch somewhere else
Your an ID10T and your posts speak for themselves. How arrogant can you get? You don't even own an AW and your talking out your considerable
( o )...

I hope your system is a lemon, a twilight zone ending for a pathetic little man with a pea brain ;-).

No not Steve, a plain old tech...

I am in the process of contacting the president of AW...

This upgrade fiasco is a joke and I am sick of the excuses and so should everyone else...

Maybe my pissing and moaning will make it better one day for future AW owners, this will make it all worth it...

Keep you posted...

Codename, I don't know if you've been asked but have you thought about waiting to see what will happen with the 7800? Thats what I'm waiting for

Yeah but something must be done to ensure we get the 7800 without anymore excuses or delays and that is what I am working on...

Hang in there.

Ok i called them up and spent half an hour on the phone, the REASON(S) you will have to pay $1900 is because, card $900, motherboard $1000.... so i called Nvidia... they said you DON'T need to change the motherboard... hmn go figure lmfao.

Btw just shut up already, everyone is pawning you and telling you to shut up... just blame yourself for your stupidity of wanting to go from a 6800 to a 6800 UG... did you even read the performance diff of the 2 cards? I wouldn't even spent $300 to change it... so stfu and wait for the 7800, and god only knows when its comming out... Or buy a desktop and have fun changing vid cards every 2 months. And its not because some jackass (thats you) tells them he wants his 7800 right now, thats its going to happen... so wait in line like everyone else

Peace

Oh and just to pawn you some more... i'v own a sentia before... so NO this isn't my first alienware or my last. Also learn to be patient... life doesn't revolve around you... very far from you for that matter... so WAIT and when the time comes... celebrate the 7800 (and be ready to spend vast amount of money)

$900 is alot of scratch for 1 card. You could buy 2 7800gtx desktop cards for that price.
